Latest reviews of our Pianists in Hull

"We reached out to Piano Hedgehog to play at our wedding during the wedding breakfast and into cocktail hour, and we honestly couldn't have asked for more. We wanted to create a relaxed, candlelit dinner atmosphere with well-known songs played live on the piano, rather than simply having music coming through the venue speakers, and that's exactly what was delivered. We were initially drawn to Piano Hedgehog because of his extensive repertoire and the music videos on his YouTube channel. He was incredibly quick to respond to our initial enquiry to check his availability, and the communication throughout the whole process has been fantastic. He has always been so friendly, helpful and thorough in answering any questions we had. Our venue was a few hours' travel for him, but nothing was ever too much trouble. He took the time to understand our musical tastes and put together a brilliant selection, playing everything from Evanescence classics to Gangsta's Paradise! Our guests were constantly commenting on how much they enjoyed the music throughout the meal. After dinner, as we'd requested, he completely switched up the tempo and created the most fantastic atmosphere, with guests gathered around the piano singing along together. It was such a special part of our wedding day and created memories that we will genuinely treasure forever. We cannot thank him enough for being such a wonderful part of our celebrations. We would 100% recommend Piano Hedgehog to anyone looking for something a little different for their event. Absolutely fantastic from start to finish!"

You can submit a request on our website once you've narrowed down your options and receive quotes within a few hours. Do pianists take requests?
Yes, many pianists are happy to take song requests. Encore's pianists often offer a wide repertoire of songs, from popular music to jazz standards, that they can play but they are also usually able to learn new songs relatively quickly. Whether or not a pianist is willing to take a request will depend on a number of factors, such as the complexity of the song and how much time they have to prepare. However, most pianists are happy to accommodate requests when they can, and they will often appreciate the opportunity to play a song that the client will enjoy. Please bear in mind if the song is not part of their repertoire, this may result in an extra fee to cover the time spent practising the song for the performance.
My venue doesn't have a piano - what should I do?
Most pianists will have a keyboard and speakers that they can bring to your event - some may even be able to provide a piano shell to mimic the look of a piano (however this will likely cost extra). Nowadays keyboards can sound just as good as the real thing, so don't let not having a piano stop you!
I want my pianist to sing as well. Is this possible?
Yes! Many pianists will sing and play piano - they can also do a mixture of accompanied and unaccompanied music to provide some variation to their performance! They'll most likely mention this information on their profile, as well as have links to videos showcasing their skills.
What kind of music can a pianist play?
Most professional pianists will be extremely competent in a wide range of styles/genres. It's basically up to you what you'd like them to play. Give them an idea of the types of music/songs you'd like to hear, and they'll put together a set of music you'll be sure to love!
