About Tom

Public liability insurance of £10 million
Verified profile
Highly versatile pianist and accompanist available for any event.

Tom works as a freelance pianist and accompanist, and performs at a wide variety of events including private parties, christenings, funerals, wedding ceremonies and receptions. In addition to work as a soloist he has accompanied other musicians for exams, weddings and concerts, worked with choirs and local schools, assisting with musical productions and concerts. Tom began learning the keyboard at age 7 and moved on to the piano soon after. After taking grade 4 in 2003 he rapidly moved through the grades and in December 2009 he gained a diploma in piano performance from ABRSM. During his time at school and sixth form he was a member of a number of ensembles and jazz bands, both in and out of school. Whilst at Sixth Form College he made the decision to study music and gained a place to study for a BA (Hons) degree at the University of Southampton. During his time at the University he began playing the harpsichord and in his final year became part of an early music trio. Tom played with several Orchestras as an orchestral pianist and assisted with a production of Sondheim’s ‘Sunday In The Park With George’, playing as a rehearsal pianist and in the pit band. Tom also started working as an accompanist, playing with several students in their final recitals. In his final year Tom took modules in composition and performance and received a first for his final performance of works by Beethoven, Chopin and Prokofiev. Whatever your event and whatever genre of music you prefer, Tom will be able to provide the perfect musical backdrop with his playing. Requests are gladly taken in advance and on the day.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If timings change in the run up to the event just send me a quick message to let me know. I always try to be as flexible as I can, and I understand that timings can change on the day as well.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, if I have brought my amplifier, then I can plug in my iPod to continue the piano music between sets.

How much time do you need to set up?

If I am using my own electric piano then that usually takes around 20 minutes to set up. However, I would always aim to arrive at the venue at least an hour before the performance start time.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Yes, of course, as along as it is in working order and in tune.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

You can pick as many songs from my repertoire list as you like!

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Yes, absolutely. I can bring my own electric piano and any necessary amplification, all for no extra charge!

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Of course, as long as I am given reasonable notice.

We got married in early August 2019 and hired Tom to play the grand piano at our venue. Tom was very helpful and professional throughout our communications with him, to help us plan the music for our event. We chose Tom because we liked the sample music included in his profile and his music style suited the tone/themes of our wedding and the venue. We provided a list of suggested songs/pieces which Tom played on the day. It was great to hear some of our favourite music played on the piano. The piano music provided a wonderful backdrop atmosphere for our wedding drinks reception, after our ceremony - thanks Tom!

Tom was relaxed, friendly and really helped create the right ambience at my 65th birthday party. He played at the start as guests arrived and he was really good at judging how to shift the atmosphere as the evening progressed.

We thought Tom was fantastic from start to finish. If I emailed him with a question he responded almost instantly every time. Very reasonably priced compared to other pianists we looked at too. We asked him if he could play for longer than we had originally discussed and he was straight back with a “no problem” and an invoice. Honestly, we could not be happier! He really created a perfect atmosphere on our special day :) thankyou so much Tom!

Tom was an absolutely delight from start to finish! He showed up 40mins early to the church ceremony to get set up without any fuss. Music wise - Tom was brilliant and is clearly very talented, we had nothing but positive feedback from our guests. Tom is a sincerely nice man as well and we highly recommend using him for any event.

Outstanding - Tom was truly first class from the moment we booked through to our wedding day at the beautiful Lainston House. We asked Tom to learn a special song for my wife's aisle walk and I was blown away at just how good it sounded. A true gentleman and a very talented pianist. Thanks so much Tom for your hard work.
