"From the offsite the band were amazing, organised very professional and inspiring young man that offered there spare time to the local community in the form of promoting music to the younger generation. My daughter's 16th birthday party at Soul Mama's live event venue was absolutely one to remember. I will be using you again guys for my sons 21st- and we are extremely pleased with your live performance everyone of you in the band delivered and went above and beyond to create an atmosphere that will be remembered for years to come. Everyone commented on how unique and talented you all were and I personally wanted to say a massive thank you but also give you the recognition you all so deserved. "What can I say? Super group, played at our New Years Eve Gala and had everyone on their feet within Minutes. Played to the crowd and hits from the 60s, 70s , 80s, 90s so something to suit all. What kind of performance should I expect from a function band?
Good question! There are essentially three types of function band performances: headline, background, and roaming. Headline bands are the most common; perfect for filling the dancefloor and getting the crowd moving. Background function bands are usually jazz bands - they can provide a great ambience for whatever event you might have in mind. Roaming bands are great for outdoor weddings or events where you want the band to get around to all the guests and provide a bit of audience interaction. Roaming bands are only possible as an acoustic act, so they come cord-free!
Will function bands take song requests?
Yes - but always best to ask well in advance! Most bands will be very accomodating if you've asked them to play a few special requests. Function bands are also usually very experienced, so requests on the night aren't out-of-the-question either (just don't be upset if they aren't keen to play all 23 minutes of Echoes by Pink Floyd!).
Will the function band provide all their own equipment?
Yes - most function bands will be fully equipped with their own PA system, music gear, and usually even lighting! Many will also provide a sound assistant, as well as a DJ service. A DJ service will keep the music going while the band take short breaks, but is also perfect add-on if you and your guests want to boogie into the far-reaches of the night!
