What our expert says...The violin is one of the most emotive instruments to hear live. Whether it’s a moving performance as a bride walks down the aisle or a high-energy electric violin set at a party, it never fails to capture attention.

"We had the absolute pleasure of having Elizaveta play the violin at our wedding, and we couldn’t have been happier. She was so accommodating with our requests, which we had sent through a few weeks before the wedding, and she was incredibly helpful in guiding us through our choices. Her experience and advice on what would work best were so valuable. We had so many guests comment on how amazing Elizaveta was and how beautiful the music sounded. She truly added such a special and memorable touch to our day, and my husband and I are so happy we had her be part of our wedding. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a talented, professional and lovely violinist!"

How much do violinists charge for weddings?
Most wedding violinists charge between £250 and £500, depending on experience, location, and how long they’re performing. Prices usually cover the ceremony and can increase if you’d like music during the drinks reception or wedding breakfast. On Encore Musicians, you can compare verified violinists, view prices upfront, and book securely for your wedding day.
Are violins popular for weddings?
Yes, absolutely, particularly for smaller, more intimate weddings, one violinist can be enough. A solo violinist can create a beautiful, elegant atmosphere that is loud enough to be heard by everyone without drowning out conversation. However, for larger weddings, you might want to opt for a string quartet or a string duo instead for a fuller sound. If unsure, chat with one of our experts today who talk through your budget, venue and tastes to work out what would work best for you.
Is one violin enough for a wedding?
Yes, violinists are very popular for weddings. Traditional, acoustic violinists are great for wedding ceremonies, evening meals and wedding breakfasts, whereas electric violinists are popular for drinks receptions as they have a louder sound.
Which songs sound best on the violin?
The violin is often associated with classical music, but it's a versatile instrument that can work well with many genres. If you're a fan of classical music, you might enjoy listening to Pachelbel's Canon in D, Beethoven's "Spring" Sonata, or Tchaikovsky's "Melodie". For those who prefer modern music, songs like Adele's "Someone Like You", Ed Sheeran's "Perfect", or Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are" sound great on the violin. If you browse through our musicians’ profiles, you’ll be able to find videos of their live performances and their song lists to get an idea of their sound. It's worth mentioning, however, that our violinists are skilled professionals who are committed to making sure you have a great night and are more than willing to take requests if you can’t find your favourite song on their profile.
Which is better violin or electric violin?
Choosing between a traditional acoustic violin and an electric violin depends on factors like venue size, acoustics, and budget. Acoustic violins produce a warm sound but may not project well in larger spaces. Electric violins can amplify sound and offer digital effects, but some argue they lack natural expression. Ultimately, what works best will depend on your preferences and many of our violinists own both acoustic and electric so browse our collection of violinists today to see what might work best for you.
