Janell was WONDERFUL. She made the day so extra special, I couldn’t believe how amazing it all fell into place. She is a magnificent and I’m so lucky I was able to have her play at our wedding. Her communication, punctuality and just overall was fantastic. Her music playing was such a joy, I wish I was able to hear her play more but I was the bride waiting in the wings before the ceremony started. Janell pitched her performance just right for a funeral reception and celebration of my mother’s life and spirit! It was sensitive but also entertaining and uplifting, with the perfect mix of light classical and fun jazz standards, including an impromptu and lovely sung rendition of Nature Boy, which came as a surprise! What’s more she had chosen an elegant dress complete with sparkly but discrete Alice band, which really set off the look. The performance seemed flawless, the overall impression, polished and personalised to the family & occasion. Perfect! We’re very happy and won’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The passion and energy I bring to the music I play, as well as my willingness to push boundaries in search of ever-greater meaning in my artistry without sacrificing a beautifully aesthetic presentation.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Too many! But if I had to pick highlights, they'd be the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Hall, Southbank Centre, Buckingham Palace, Wigmore Hall, St John's Smith Square, Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, Skipton Town Hall, plus the many esteemed music festivals and concert series in the UK. Abroad, I've performed in Esplanade Concert Hall and Theatre in Singapore.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Growing up, Maxim Vengerov was the violinist I dreamed of emulating - although people often compared me to Vanessa Mae! I am inspired by Michael Jackson's & Beyonce's work ethic, innovation, and ability to bring together diverse styles. I admire Nigel Kennedy's fearless, tenacious attitude.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I've had the privilege to play for Prince Charles, two Presidents of Singapore, UK ex-High Commissioner of Burma, Governor of Western Australia, among others! Other highlights: Leading the Violin II section for a sold-out Royal Albert Hall; performing a full evening programme at the Esplanade Concert Hall; and playing at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Forum.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes, I can play violin and sing during the same event, and a violin duo line-up is also available. If you'd like a string trio or string quartet, I co-founded the Bloomsbury Quartet in Autumn 2017 - get in touch with me directly or search for us here on Encore!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

No problem, let me know ASAP and we will figure it out!

How much time do you need to set up?

I'm present at the venue at least 30mins before and after the scheduled event, to setup/packdown and in case of unforeseen delays or circumstances.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes of course - if you have preferences for/against a certain piece or song, let me know!

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, but if the venue has their own equipment available, that would be very useful and helpful to know in advance!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

The earlier you can get in touch with me about this, the more likely that it's possible!
