"Icono band was incredible from start to finish - from Mike's initial communication, through to prompt arrival and set up being seem-less. The main event - the music(!) was unbelievable - really really good. Great variety in songs and great energy brought to the dance floor - including two of the band players coming onto the floor to join us at different points. I'd also like to commend the band for helping react to the heat - we had an unfortunate space which was over-heating and meant some people weren't staying in the venue. The band reacted to this by getting some fans out on the dance floor and working with the venue to encourage more people onto the dance floor. The second set was much more populated with people more comfortable on the dance floor. Would definitely book again, thank you so much for making our wedding a night to remember."

What kind of performance should I expect from a function band?
Good question! There are essentially three types of function band performances: headline, background, and roaming. Headline bands are the most common; perfect for filling the dancefloor and getting the crowd moving. Background function bands are usually jazz bands - they can provide a great ambience for whatever event you might have in mind. Roaming bands are great for outdoor weddings or events where you want the band to get around to all the guests and provide a bit of audience interaction. Roaming bands are only possible as an acoustic act, so they come cord-free!
Will function bands take song requests?
Yes - but always best to ask well in advance! Most bands will be very accomodating if you've asked them to play a few special requests. Function bands are also usually very experienced, so requests on the night aren't out-of-the-question either (just don't be upset if they aren't keen to play all 23 minutes of Echoes by Pink Floyd!).
Will the function band provide all their own equipment?
Yes - most function bands will be fully equipped with their own PA system, music gear, and usually even lighting! Many will also provide a sound assistant, as well as a DJ service. A DJ service will keep the music going while the band take short breaks, but is also perfect add-on if you and your guests want to boogie into the far-reaches of the night!
