"I booked Desmond the group's steel drum musician and he was brilliant. I asked for him to play on a grassy area outside my venue, so that my guests could hear him playing as they made their way to the reception. At half time when all the guests were inside eating and drinking, Desmond and Roger took it upon themselves to move the equipment inside, so that the music could carry on being enjoyed (good thinking). I had a few problems with an earlier booking that I had to cancel due to lack of contact. I had no problems at all with Vanessa. At all stages she kept in contact with me and was also very kind. Her colleague Roger introduced himself to me at my reception and gave Vanessa's best wishes. Desmond was very sweet and the music he played was delightful and Roger was very thoughtful, making sure I was happy with everything. Hiring Xotic was definitely a highlight of the evening and I would recommend them for any social occasion. Thank you all for being a part of my wedding day."

Can any steel drummer play my favourite song?
Professional steel drummers will often take requests, but you will need to give them plenty of notice. Please also keep in mind that steel drummers may ask for an small additional fee to prepare songs that aren't already on their song list. How much time do steel drummers take to set up?
Your steel drummer will usually arrive about an hour or so before their performance begins to set up and get settled before they start playing. To avoid any delays, make sure the performance space is ready for the steel drummer prior to their arrival.
My venue has asked for the performer’s PLI & PAT inspection certificates. What are these?
PLI stands for Public Liability Insurance. This insurance covers damage to another person or their property (it is also known as third party insurance). As many of our steel drummers are members of the Musician's Union, they are already covered by PLI up to £10 million. PAT stands for portable appliance testing. Most of our steel drummers will already have a PAT inspection certificate for their musical equipment/PA system, which they can provide to your venue if they need it.
