A native of Hong Kong, Joyce Lee embarked on her violin journey at the age of five. A year later, she gained entry into the Junior Music Program at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where her skills and talent were nurtured. Supported by multiple scholarships, she studied at the academy with Professor Michael Ma, the Head of Strings, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 2021. Subsequently, Joyce ventured to London, where she achieved her Master's degree with Merit at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, under the tutelage of Professor Simon Fischer. Throughout her musical career, Joyce has exhibited an unwavering passion for music. She has led in youth orchestras and toured to Europe for performances, consistently sharing her artistry and love for the violin with diverse audiences. Her devotion includes chamber music, where she has worked with acclaimed ensembles such as the Shanghai String Quartet, Orion String Quartet, Endellion String Quartet, and Calidore String Quartet. During her studies, Joyce had served as the associate concertmaster of the HKAPA Symphony Orchestra. She also had the privilege of participating in side-by-side workshops under the baton of Jaap Van Zweden with the Hong Kong Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra. Joyce's commitment to musical exploration has taken her to music festivals in the U.S., Germany, and Taiwan, where she engaged in masterclasses with mentors such as Jan Mark Sloman, Ryan Meehan, and Solenne Paidassi. Having lived in and travelled to various cities, Joyce firmly believes that music is a universal language that transcends cultural boundaries, bringing people from diverse backgrounds together. She sees music as an instrument of unity and inspiration, a powerful tool to engage the public in an inclusive manner. Her belief in the transformative power of music extends to her active involvement in community service, including regular performances in charity concerts as a member of the SAR Philharmonic Orchestra and London City Philharmonic. Post-graduation, she joined Nevis Ensemble in Scotland as a fellow, where she developed her passion further for music in community settings. Her performances have brought joy to diverse audiences in prisons, school settings, dementia centres, care homes and additional support needs centres across Scotland. Currently, Joyce Lee serves as a foundation violinist with Orpheus Sinfonia, continuing to explore the boundless possibilities in music.
