Rhona Macfarlane

Training: Rhona trained as a Violinist on the performance programme at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under Greg Lawson. Rhona also holds her Grade 8 Violin, Piano and the ABRSM Diploma. Rhona also took a professional project scheme around Music Business called ‘The Musician as an Entrepreneur’ in her final year and received Distinction. She was recently selected to be an ambassador for the Benedetti Session. Rhona developed other skills during her time at RCS such as orchestration and Jazz piano. Violin Performance Experience: Benedetti Foundation Ambassador, Nevis Ensemble 2019 Tour of the Hebrides, Concerto for the Commonwealth Summer School with Nicola Benedetti at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Scottish Opera Connect Orchestra side by side project ,NYOS Symphony Orchestra – Tour of China (2015), BBC Proms (2016), 2017, NYOS Camerata, Decoda Ensemble Residency, Mark Hendry Large Ensemble – Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Session violinist on Fat suit fourth album, wedding gigs, session violinist with bands and a wide range of orchestral and ensemble performances while a student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. String Arranging: Wrote string arrangements and recorded strings for: Kirsty Macfarlane- Home (2016) Rhona Macfarlane- The Tide EP (2017) Kinnaber Junction- Looking at the Tracks (2017) (Violin and Piano recorded) Michael Cassidy’s EP- I Never Made it EP (2018) Blair Coron- On the Nature of Things (2019) Flew the Arrow- Come the Wind, Come the Rain (2019) Currently working on Michael Cassidy new album.
