Violinist based in Glasgow. Available for ensemble& orchestral work all over Scotland. Also available for teaching at all levels and ages.
Raised in Crieff, Perthshire Rachael has graduated from the RCS with a BMus (hons) degree and is now an upper strings music instructor for Glasgow City Council. Rachael started playing the violin at the age of 8 and attended the Junior Department of the RCS for 4 years before gaining a place at the RCS. In my last year of Juniors, I was given the opportunity to lead the 1st Orchestra. In the same year I was lucky enough to also be made leader of Perth Youth Orchestra and the West of Scotland Schools Symphony Orchestra. I study with Andrea Gajic whom I have been with since my 3rd year at Junior RCS. I have been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland for the last 8 years during which I have been on several tours visiting and playing in many places and venues such as Poland, Holland, The Sage in Gateshead, the Three Choirs Festival in Worcester and at the Proms. A couple of years ago I had my most amazing experience to date by way of being invited, through NYOS, to participate in an exchange where I travelled to Vienna in order to play with the Wiener Jeunesse Orchester for a 2 week period. This was one of the best things I have ever taken part in as through it I met and became friends with many wonderful people from other countries. The biggest highlight of the trip was getting to play the Firebird Suite by Stravinsky in the Golden Hall of the Wiener Musikverein. However, this Summer provided me with an even greater experience when I travelled to China on tour with NYOS.
