Kerry Alexander

Born in the north-east coastal town of Buckie, Kerry Alexander began playing the violin at the age of 7. With her Granda being a church organist, and her mum a violin teacher, she was surrounded by music from a young age. After completing her grade 8 violin aged 12, Kerry went on to train at The Royal Northern College of Music and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she studied with Andrea Gajic, graduating in 2016. Prior to her undergraduate studies, Kerry was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. This saw her tour much of Europe and take part in the BBC proms series at The Royal Albert Hall alongside the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Nicola Benedetti. She later returned to play at the Royal Albert Hall with the RNCM Session Orchestra for the Youth Music Initiative. Kerry has a keen interest in Musical Theatre and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the RCS productions of West Side Story and Caberet. She has also competed in the Scottish Music Scene having played at the Oban Invitational Masters Competition and the Robert Burns World Federation Competition. An enthusiastic and keen teacher, Kerry has recently gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Education degree which now sees her teaching within schools. Aside from music, Kerry enjoys exploring the countryside and regularly plays tennis.
