The band will also give you an accurate estimate of how much space they'll want, taking into account equipment (whether they're utilising a PA system or lights).
How long does setup and sound check take?
A quartet takes roughly an hour, while a 7+ piece band takes about 90 minutes. This will allow them to load in their gear, warm up, and sound-check.
