Espresso was formed, in the very early 90s, in the University of Ulster, Coleraine, from Student and Academics. There was a lack of live Jazz in the area and they aimed to fill the gap and generally have a good time. There have been a few line-up changes since then but the goal remains the same and our connection remains with the University as we have been their regular band for Graduation since. We also do Corporate, Council, Conferences, Dinners, Product Launches, Store Openings and Private events. (We have been booked regularly for Valentine's 4-Ball at Royal Portrush for nearly 20 years). We have played many Weddings as the Main band and the Reception band.

Customer questions

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

We strive to make sure the line-up you see is what you get on the night. We do have pre-auditioned 'dep' musicians available in case a band member falls ill or is unavailable. As a professional band, our reputation means everything so you can be confident that all of our players are of a very high level.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our line-up is as follows: (Alto, Clarinet, Flute, Vocals), Guitar, Bass, Drums. We also have a 5 piece option that includes a Singer

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run-up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. This is a really popular request and we actually offer this service for free. If you'd like a DJ service via our PA after the final set until the venue closes, we provide this for an additional £150.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up about 1 to 1.5 hours before the performance time. As soon as our PA is set up we can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure guests dance and have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our PA and lighting system is included in your quote. We usually require a minimum of 4m by 3m space to perform. For outdoor events, we would require adequate cover and a safe electrical supply in the event of rain.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc.
