London based Lucy May Walker has been performing professionally for 8 years. After qualifying from Cumbria University with a 1st Class BA Performing Arts degree, Lucy's journey began busking on the streets of London. While busking in Charing Cross station, Lucy May was famously discovered by Jeremy Vine, who went on to champion Lucy by playing her original music on his BBC Radio 2 show as well as her debut TV performance on Jeremy Vine on 5. Lucy then went on to support Wet Wet Wet on their UK tour, performing live to Scott Mills & Jamie Cullum on BBC Radio 5 and selling out headline shows across the UK. When Lucy isn't writing & performing her own material, she usually has a diary full of cover gigs, from wedding receptions, to pubs and large events such as Wembley Park for the euros 2020. Lucy takes a lot of care in making sure she takes the time to understand the brief of each and every client, will be in constant communication with them and boasts a high, professional standard for all events. Lucy was perfect...we hired her for my 90s themed 40th at the house. She was great at keeping in touch before the event, punctual, friendly, professional and of course an amazing musician!! We loved having her perform and would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for some fantastic acoustic live music.

Lucy is such an incredible talent, she entertained all of our guests and gave our engagement party that extra special touch we hoped some live music would. Lucy is super lovely to deal with, comms were great and she had an incredibly professional set up. I couldn’t recommend Lucy highly enough, I hope we can work with her again in the future.

When we first saw Lucy May play, were instantly blown away by her voice and storytelling through songwriting. We booked Lucy to play for our wedding in October 2021. In the lead up to the event she was so professional, prompt and helpful with her replies - she made everything feel really easy with nothing to worry about. On the day she was praised by our guests for her performance. She got us all dancing and singing along and even crying when she sang a song she wrote as a commission for my wife as a gift - it was one of my favourite and most memorable parts of the day. On the day there was a slight change of plan with timings, but Lucy managed to quickly adapt to the last minute changes to make it work with no added stress. We continue to be fans of Lucy and we are so glad she was able to share our day with us and make it so special.

Lucy played at our wedding in 2019 and was an absolute joy. She played a perfect set which complimented the mood of the day, with a great mix of covers & originals (which we requested as we are fans). She was early, organised and a really lovely energy to have on the day. Beautiful voice and a really wonderful performer. We were really thrilled we could have her.

Customer questions

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes I can play songs through my PA from a device in-between my sets

How much time do you need to set up?

I can set up in as little as 15 minutes, but will always make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes before any booking. When booked for events such as a wedding, I always make sure to make the extra effort to arrive over an hour beforehand so that I'm set up before guests arrive.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

My set list is crafted from experience and learning what works best for every scenario but I always like to know what kind of vibe you are after. For example, if you'd like me to sing at your wedding reception, maybe you'd like to keep the atmosphere light with love songs, or if I'm singing at a birthday party you want the bangers to keep coming? no problem

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I bring my own portable battery powered amp so I don't even need electric. I do ask that I am given a big enough space to perform without being in anyone's way or my equipment getting bumped, but other than that - I won't need a thing from you.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included, there may be a chance I already know it so you can always ask - but if there's a special song you'd like me to learn especially for the event I can make it happen at an extra cost.
