The Martello Quartet first formed in 2013, having met through playing together in various orchestras around Eastbourne. Initially it was four professional players coming together to play some concerts, and out of this the Martello Quartet was born due to popular demand! The quartet currently play regular gigs all over East Sussex and further afield. Recent months have seen the quartet performing at many weddings, evening functions and events, however the quartet do also come together to perform classical concerts regularly too. As well as performing as a quartet, Martello also regularly perform as a trio. All the players are music college graduates and have performed for years with various quartets, as soloists and with orchestras. The Martello Quartet are also extremely versatile and as well as performing in evening dress playing classical, are just as comfortable playing for parties and festivals performing folk right through to popular music, and it is this breadth of experience that make The Martello Quartet perfect for your day. The quartet has an incredibly extensive repertoire which is well sourced and regularly updated, appealing to all ages and tastes.

The Martello Quartet were fabulous! Providing a great variety of music both classical and modern pieces. They serenaded us with lovely music before, during and after our ceremony and entertained our guests throughout our wedding breakfast. Guests started singing along to the music which made the day even more fun.

Do you have different line-up options?

We have the option of a String Trio for smaller events and venues. Information available on enquiry

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

It shouldn't be a problem just let us know as soon as possible and we will do everything we can to accommodate the change.

How much time do you need to set up?

We typically allow for twenty minutes set up time as long as four armless chairs are available.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

The Martello Quartet has a wide repertoire including wedding classics and other classical favourites, pop and jazz hits, folk tunes and themes from TV, films and musicals. We are happy to discuss specific pieces and play or avoid music from specific genres.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

We will need four armless chairs but we bring everything else. If you think that lighting might be an issue in your venue please let us know and we will bring battery operated stand lights.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes we are happy to learn new pieces to make your event even more special. We require at least four weeks' notice to ensure we can source the music.
