Thames Music Group formed in 2026 after years of recruiting. We took a deliberately different approach to a function and corporate band: rather than building around a fixed set list, we built a collective around the best musicians we know, then complemented it with featured and session players from our wider network, guided by our management and creative team. Between the roster, there are years of real-world experience across multiple genres, settings and touring projects. This approach is rivalled by very few groups, not because others aren’t capable, but because it’s difficult to source this level of talent and secure the commitment outside busy schedules. That’s why we run a deep bench of trusted deps around our core. The upside is simple: we can shape the right line-up for any event size, from an intimate courtyard set to a full-scale corporate production, and supply everything required (PA, mics, lighting and production) so it runs smoothly. Attention to detail is what sets this collective apart, so we’re selective about what we offer. We specialise in specific genres and approaches that we can deliver to an A-class standard every time, and that’s exactly why we can make clear guarantees on quality and consistency. We’ll always work hard to fit the brief, but we won’t take on styles or formats we can’t execute at the level we’d want our name attached to. Our minimum standard is set and vetted by the musicians themselves, and if we find someone exceptional in a style we don’t currently cover, we’ll add them in future. Within that specialist offering, Thames Music Group cover a wide range: blues, jazz, soul, funk, Motown, R&B, pop, rock, reggae, country, folk, Latin and world music, moving from background elegance to full dancefloor energy without losing musicality. Distinctive colours are available when it suits the brief: sax, clarinet, flute, double bass, horns and woodwind, percussion, plus kora, guzheng and guembri. Levent Basharan (guitar virtuoso, bandleader) Levent leads the guitar side of the collective, from classical solo guitar and Spanish repertoire through gypsy jazz to intricate world fusion. He fronts the Basharan rock trio for a full, high-energy original show, and also leads Levent and Taylor’s World Band, blending world, jazz and modern groove with real live impact. Across all formats, his role is tone, dynamics and detail — whether it’s refined background music or a headline-feel set. Taylor Higgs (piano virtuoso, musical director) Taylor is classically trained (London College of Music alumni) and leads the piano-led side of the collective, including classical solo piano, jazz piano and full band work. He leads the Taylor Higgs Jazz Band for events that want a true jazz feel, and also leads the Cutting Keys Experience: piano fusion with instruments from around the world, built around improvisation, live interplay and special guests — with every event unique and no repeat set. He also features in Taylor Del Mundo, the rumba flamenca / Spanish and Latin world music band. Performance highlights Across the projects, the collective have delivered high-profile shows including performances for Vivienne Westwood and BrewDog, at the Houses of Parliament, and at the ‘Third World Solidarity’ conference for Mushtaq Lasharie CBE, alongside festival and overseas appearances. They have also performed internationally across Europe and beyond, including Switzerland, Italy, Cuba, Brazil, the Philippines and cruise ship stages. Connor Groves (lead vocals, front line options) Connor leads the vocal line-up and fronts the party band and rock/pop sets, with multiple vocalist options available depending on the tone of the event, including featured female vocalists. He also features on vocals and guitar in Taylor Del Mundo when the brief suits that Spanish/Latin edge. Known for power and range, he is also a natural showman and crowd-pleaser — confident, controlled, and able to lift a room and keep it there without losing taste or timing. Darren Jones (folk, roots and world specialist) Darren leads Darren Jones World Band and fronts The Long Run. His lane is folk, roots and world music with live drive and storytelling, plus multi-instrument colour as part of the show (vocals, guitar, sax, harmonica, bouzouki and mandolin depending on the set). He is a fantastic showman and crowd-pleaser when the brief calls for that lively, roots-led momentum. Dave Livings (folk, blues and soul specialist) Dave adds sensitivity and intimacy to a set, ideal for ceremonies, courtyard moments and the quieter parts of the day that still need real musical weight. His solo work is built around vocals, guitar and harmonica, and he also fronts Davey and the Jawbones for a more electrified, Chicago-blues-leaning option when the event wants grit, groove and punch. Built around showmanship as much as musicianship, Thames Music Group don’t just play songs — they guide the room. They read the audience, shape the pacing, and land the moments, so the night feels effortless for the host and memorable for the guests. Alongside the performance, the group also provide an in-house photography, videography, media and special effects department, with professional kit and lighting, so everything is handled by one joined-up team. Thames Music Group's Reviews

"They have been one of the most talked about acts this year, with huge demand for their return, and Friday night’s performance proved why, with easily one of the loudest and heaviest performances we have had at the club. Dirty and gritty at times, with undertones of Alice in Chains and the sky-cracking riffs of bands like Mastodon. This band is on the rise, closing the night out with Hendrix’s “Voodoo Child”, which brought the house down." -The Bear Club.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Built over years with a carefully chosen roster of exceptional musicians, this is the opposite of plug and play. The detail is relentless, tuning, tone, dynamics, pacing and how the night builds. Add real showmanship that guides and entertains the room, and it becomes the complete package: a proper, memorable experience with outrageous value for money.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Houses of Parliament – John Bercow Party Vivienne Westwood Fashion Show – Runway Performance BrewDog's AGM Weekend – Two Day Party Music in the City Festival – Southampton Camden Rocks Festival – London Smoke and Fire Festival – BBQ festival Leeds Festival Warm Up Party- Rita's Leeds The Palace Theatre – Showcase Railway Hotel Southend - Iconic Venue

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Influences: feel, groove, live energy over trends. Blues: Muddy Waters, BB King. Jazz: Billie Holiday, Nina Simone. Soul funk: Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, James Brown. Folk: Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton. Reggae: Marley. Latin world: Santana, Buena Vista, Gipsy Kings. Rock: Stones, Zeppelin, Sabbath. Guitar heroes: Hendrix, SRV, Vai, Satriani, Rhoads.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Highlights include performing for Vivienne Westwood and BrewDog, playing at the Houses of Parliament, and appearing at the Third World Solidarity conference for Mushtaq Lasharie CBE. If you want one headline moment, Houses of Parliament is hard to beat

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Think of it like a build your own musical sandwich. If you want the singer from the videos, we lock them in. If you want a different sound, we can mix and match, including featured female vocalists not in the clips. Ask and we will send options. Full line up is confirmed way in advance.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes. How big is your room and what vibe do you want? We scale from singer with piano or guitar to duo, trio, party band or bigger with horns and percussion. Specialist options include kora, guzheng, guembri, sax, clarinet, double bass, flute, plus sax, harmonica, bouzouki, mandolin and harmonica.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

No stress. Timings change all the time. Let us know as soon as you can and we will adjust set times, band size, and running order to fit. If changes affect travel, staffing, or equipment, we will flag any cost difference before confirming. We will keep it simple and smooth on the day.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes. We can run an iPod playlist before we start and in every break through the same PA, keeping the volume right for the room. You can send a playlist or we can curate one. We don't have a DJ, we had to draw the line somewhere and decided we'd leave that up to the professionals ;P

How much time do you need to set up?

About 10-15 minutes per musician to load in and set up. Most bookings we arrive 1- 2 hours before start depending on line up. As soon as the PA is up we can run a free playlist between sets to set the vibe. Just like music, timing is everything.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes of course, and customise it! If it is an easy one, we can often learn it free with enough notice. Otherwise we charge a small prep fee. With larger line ups, getting 8 to 12 musicians together to arrange and rehearse takes real time and cost, but it means your song lands properly and feels special, not thrown together.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Usually, yes. We include a suitable PA for the line up and room size, plus basic lighting where needed. Larger rooms, extra lighting, staging, or special effects can be added and quoted clearly. If your venue has in house sound, we can also plug in and reduce what we bring.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

No problem at all. If you speak to us early, we can usually be flexible on costs. If the musicians are already together for rehearsal, it is often easy to add extra requests and learn a few more at the same time. We will agree it all up front so you know exactly what is included and you'll get the same result for a fraction of the price.
