I have been playing the guitar for over 35 years. I learned how to play guitar on my own by watching and listening to artists like Mark Knofler, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Tracy Chapman, Bob Marley amongst others. After listening to a visiting guitarist called Isaac Peterson I got inspired to play the classical guitar have obtained an ABRSM Diploma in Music performance. I started to play solo concerts at school which became very popular. From then on I was hired to play at camps, corporate functions, Christmas concerts and weddings. The classical guitar is not particularly a crowd puller in Zimbabwe where I come from so I decided to take some of the traditional folk songs and arranged them for the guitar. My arrangements gained popularity and relevance. Some of the most popular traditional song arrangements include Pata Pata, by Miriam Makeba, Neria, Todii by Oliver Mutukudzi, Jerusalema, Asimbonanga among others. In 2021 I got hired as a solo guitarist on Carnival cruise ships. I just don't play the guitar and sing to make money, my general well being depends on it. It's a passion about people and connecting with the audience, creating a community of feeling. At weddings my music makes what is already awesome, beautifully more so. It is an honor and privilege to put a smile on someone's face, soothe an aching heart or make a fleeting experience eternal.
