Sigurd Watt

I started drumming aged 10 playing along to CDs of my favourite songs. Aged 13 I became involved in several bands and played gigs all around Aberdeen. Aged 15 I auditioned for Aberdeen City Music School (ACMS) aged 15 where I went onto study with BBC big band drummer Tom Gordon, play in chamber groups and many orchestras including the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland who I toured the UK with in 2011. In 2012 I began studying music at University of Edinburgh and became the house drummer for ‘Teviot’s Jazz in the Lounge‘, a weekly jazz jam night. During my time as a student I regularly worked as a ceilidh drummer and musical theatre drummer/percussionist for shows such as Hairspray, Beauty and the Beast and West Side Story. I continue to be a part of many bands in Edinburgh, which can be found on my ‘projects’ page, where you can also read about the music education initiatives I teach for.
