I’m originally from Inverness, in the Scottish Highlands (real Outlander country), and have made the East Midlands home for almost 20 years. I call the ceilidhs, so show your guests what to do and keep them on track through the dancing. My style of calling is fun, social and inclusive. I've been described as having an authentically Scottish style with a contemporary twist. A real Highland ceilidh experience. There is a trend for uniqueness🥂 across the entertainment industry, with bookers looking for something out of the norm. Something that will engage their guests and give them something else to remember about the day- those precious memories that we all want. I work with a variety of different bands across the UK meaning where there are travel costs, they are kept to a minimum whether that's Inverness, Nottingham or the Channel Islands.

Schuggie did a fantastic job providing the ceilidh at our wedding in August. From the first video call, he was really attentive to what we were looking for and put us at ease during the planning stage with his kindness and easy communication style. He was proactive in setting up calls to talk through the day and make sure all the logistics ran smoothly. There were lots of small touches like sharing tips for the day and ideas to make it even more fun for the guests (the whisky went down very well!). On the day itself he put so much effort and passion into getting people involved and organising the dances. He led the whole thing superbly which was a great relief to us as we were so distracted by the day itself! We had so many lovely comments from guests afterwards. Schuggie helped us have a day we’ll remember for ever and we’d highly recommend him and his band.

We had an amazing wedding ceilidh with Schuggie and The Big Moose Band! It was such an inclusive form of entertainment for all our guests, young and old, and gave us exactly the type of vibe we were looking for! From the first meeting to the last dance, Schuggie made sure it was all about us and gave us an absolutely fantastic evening. Schuggie also planned in a couple of touch points in the lead up to the wedding to make sure we understood exactly how things would run and he could get the event exactly as we wanted it, which we found very reassuring as it made us feel everything was well planned and forethought. There were some surprises in there for us as a couple and we got a really unique first dance which was created by the band specially. We'd definitely recommend for any wedding and hope to get along to one of his regular ceilidhs again soon.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have performed at over 150 venues from cosy wee village halls, marques and tipi’s, outdoor locations, hotel ball rooms and castles. Here are an example: •Edinburgh Castle •Warwick Castle •Newark Castle •London Zoo •Ghillie Dhu, Edinburgh •Port Merrion Village, North Wales

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

An American couple’s pre-wedding ceilidh right at the top of Edinburgh castle. Almost 100 New Yorkers who had never ceilidh’d in their lives. They all love it ❤️

Can you perform covers?

Not usually. We focus on fast and furious Scottish-style music for you to dance to with a caller to help you along.

Do you have different line-up options?

Usually, we comprise a caller, guitarist, fiddler and drummer.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are very flexible on the time of the day. We arrive early to set up and risk assess the venue and then fit in when you're ready.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, that's all part of our package, as is a low-key wind-down disco once the ceilidh ends.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up about 1 before the ceilidh starts. As soon as our PA is set up we can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for the ceilidh. Dont worry though, we won't start setting up while you are still eating or doing the speeches.

Do you provide a caller?

Yes, we have a fantastic caller who is from Inverness originally. So you get the full Highland treatment.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our dance set is crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure guests dance and have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your wedding.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

We provide PA system, low key lights for the after-ceilidh disco. These are all included in your fee, If you wanted an early setup, or the PA for speeches then we can discuss that as part of the booking.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Not really.
