Led by James Rawlinson The Red Fez Orchestra & Red Fez Quartet plays music of the 1920-40s, a golden era of Jazz & Art Deco style which produced some of the world’s greatest dance bands, introduced us to ‘Flappers’ and the iconic dance crazes – The Charleston & Black Bottom. The Red Fez Orchestra & Quartet features the talents of some of the UK’s finest musicians who have played with famous names in 1920s 1930s & 1940s Dance & Jazz Band music. They all come together to create a Great Sounding, Fez wearing, Macassar Oil, Hair Slicked Dance Band. We can provide a full theatre style show or simply provide music for dance all performed in character with authentic dress. The Fez are influenced by the old dance bands as well as the more recent revival bands such as The Temperance Seven, Bonzo Dog Band, Peter Skellern and we aspire to produce performances that are authentic as well as entertaining for contemporary audiences. We can supply Flapper Dancers, Charleston Girls, Actors, & Belly-Dancers, Vintage DJ’s on request. Contact us and we will be happy to tailor our performance and set-list to your specific needs.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

We have 3 singers that we use regularly. We aim to keep the band the same but sometime dep musicians will be used in the case of illness.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our 4 piece quartet comprises of Trumpet (vocal), Saxophone/Clarinet, Sousaphone/Drums, Piano. The seven piece dance band comprises of 2 saxophones, trumpet, vocalist, sousaphone, piano, drums. The full 10 piece lineup is 3 saxophones, trumpet, trombone, sousaphone, drums, piano, vocalist, violin. A complete 17 piece line up is also possible but cost im

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try to be flexible to help the client. We can change timings with in reason but travel back will often restrict a deadline to when we will finish,

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Music can be played in between our sets to keep the atmosphere going.

How much time do you need to set up?

We would require 1- 1.5 hours to set up and sound check before a performance. Music will then be played before we start and in our interval break.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

You are more than welcome to pick some of the songs that we play at your event. We have an extensive library of music to pick from.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

P.A. is included in the quote. If you require lighting this will be extra.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We can source other songs if they are not already in our library. Songs that we cannot source can be transcribed for a fee of £50.00
