I am Rachel Jones; a professional pianist who loves exploring and playing music from all genres. I received a 1st BA(Hons) in music and education from The University of Reading where I developed my love of performing through various recitals and performing opportunities. My highlights included performing Ligeti's Musica Ricercata, Khachaturian's Toccata and Britten's Night Piece (Notturno). After University, I taught as a primary school teacher and then a school music teacher for 10 years before becoming a full-time musician and piano teacher. During that time, I continued my professional development, including a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto no.24 in C minor K491. I love working with couples to create a bespoke playlist for their special day. I especially enjoy creating arrangements of more unusual requests that you wouldn't expect to hear on the piano.

Amazing Day! 17.06.2023 We used Kent Pianist as our piano player during our welcome drinks and ceremony and WOW is all i can say! She worked alongside a Violinist we had play together and they were honestly incredible! Rachel was so patient and supportive during the whole process, I was really undecided on what aisle song to have and they rehearsed so many for me to decide between. There was no pressure and on the day the songs sounded perfect! I would highly recommend booking Kent Pianist for your special day. She is so trustworthy and just a lovely person. Wedding Pianist Well what can I say, Rachel was amazing all the way through initial communications to playing at our ceremony at the beautiful Nettlestead Place. Rachel went above and beyong what I expected and exceeded all expectations. Her music was stunning and myself, my husband and our guests loved Rachel's music and choice of songs. Value for money was amazing, I provided little direction (as we are not that musically minded) and Rachel continued to amaze me with the level of service and communications throughout our planning. I would highly recommend Rachel, she made our intimate little venue and ceremony that extra bit special! Thank you Rachel 😊 x

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The range of pieces and genres I can provide. Clients love hearing pieces of music that they would not normally expect to hear on the piano.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Westenhanger Castle, Solton Manor, Port Lympne, Allington Castle, Dover Marina, Lympne Castle, Chilston Park, Rowhill Grange, Cooling Castle Barn, Swarling Manor, Chapel House Estate, Many Churches.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I love a variety of music from different genres including Chopin, Mendelssohn, Einaudi, Yiruma, Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington, Metallia, Pink Floyd, Coldplay and John Legend (a real mix). My absolute favourite is film music and video game music (Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, Joe Hisaishi).

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I try my best to be as flexible as possible on the day. If timings change slightly just let me know as soon as possible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

How much time do you need to set up?

I take about 30min to set up the electric piano and speaker.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Yes, as long as in working order and in tune!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes. I love requests and arranging new songs. You can choose as many of the songs as you would like in the playlist.

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Yes. I have a Yamaha electric piano and speaker which I can bring to events.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes. I love requests and arranging new songs. You can choose as many of the songs as you would like in the playlist. I ask for a month's notice to learn new songs so that I can ensure it is perfect.
