A warm, professional and personable combo providing quality musicianship and an ambience which takes you to other worlds. Think 'hot' club jazz of 30s Paris meeting the cool, summer sounds of 60s Brazilian Ipanema beach and then just when you couldn't take any more delight, you are immersed in the American songbook of Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday and Diana Krall. ABOUT US: All experienced musicians, Nomad!c comprises Pete 'Tiger' Sheppard on guitar, Claire McAllister (bandleader) on vocals, Ian Thomson on Saxophones, Joe Yeadon on double bass and Tom Vincent on drums. Winner of the 2010 Jazz Vocalist competition PureSolo in association with Jazz FM, Claire has played at venues such as The Barbican, The Guardian Hay Festival, Hampton Court Palace, The Princes Hall, and The Reform Club. Claire studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (2014-2016) and studied/worked with Dennis Rollins, Ian Shaw, Liane Carol, Brigitte Beraha, Lee Gibson, Malcolm Edmonstone, Martin Hathaway and Scott Stroman. She has performed at the Barbican and been on BBC Radio with her album of original songs, Caminos, released by Turquoise Coconut record label. She has also toured the UK and Spain. Pete Sheppard, a jazz guitarist, was touring authentic French clubs and cafes with his father from the age of 13, including learning gypsy jazz from the gypsies themselves. He formed jazz-funk bands in his teens and is also an accomplished classical guitarist. Tom Vincent was playing drums before he could walk and is highly respected in the music business as a busy session drummer and former member of the Claire Phoenix Band. Tom has played with Dame Shirley Bassey, amongst others, and made several appearances at The Albert Hall as a member of orchestras and big bands. Sax player Ian Thomson has played in bands in Cuba, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. His early influences include Gospel, Jazz, and Blues. He has twenty years of experience playing with various jazz, blues, and fusion bands in the London-Reading area, including regular gigs with Little Wonder at The Jazz Cafe and Metzos. He also plays with King Mob, Revolution, and Don't Look Now. Ian leads his own jazz-funk band, Shine, which is well known on the Isle of Wight for playing at various venues, including the Jazz Festival. Other events include playing and recording with Redshift as a house band at Fatcats restaurant in Yarmouth and with The Sugarkings, headed by Ric Harris of Aswad. Joe Yeadon plays bass, percussion/drums, and violin. He is also an arranger and runs a big band. He sight-reads and plays ‘by ear’ everything from Baroque to chart covers, theatre scores, jazz standards, and Big Band charts. He's been playing music for as long as he can reach the piano keyboard. During his musical career, he has performed in pubs, clubs, cathedrals, village/school halls, hotels, theatres, bandstands, music festivals, and concert halls. He is also a qualified recording engineer.
