About Nagi Quintet

A seasoned ensemble together for years, providing smooth jazz, pop & rock backdrops for your occasion!
Jazz band
Oxford
Public liability insurance of £1 million

Our goal is simple: make the hours vanish. We live for the moments when a soft jazz intro catches you off guard, and when guests sing and clap along to well-known tunes we put a spin on. Thanks to years of jazz study, we read the room so well you’ll barely notice the minutes slipping by. We’re a group of jazz students who've fallen in love with playing at school and want to continue to bring that love of music to others. Our core four-piece band handles a wide range of styles, and if you’d like a little extra color we can add a jazz singer, pianist or small horn section to match your mood. Our job is to make your life as easy as possible. With us, we will take care of the setup and disassembly of the band from start to finish. Each performance is like telling a story: we start with gentle jazz to welcome your guests, move into familiar pop tunes and rock favorites as the night builds, then wrap up on a high note—all woven together so the music flows naturally and the hours disappear. We may be newcomers to this platform, but our experience and practice keeps us attentive and adaptable, so your event runs smoothly and the music feels effortless.

Working with this band was a breeze. We booked them for our summer reception at Oxford Town Hall, and from the first email to the final performance, they handled everything—song selection, soundcheck and bringing their own equipment. They arrived early, set up quietly, then delivered smooth jazz during drinks followed by upbeat pop-rock for the afterparty. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how effortlessly the evening flowed, and we barely lifted a finger. Highly recommend for anyone wanting professional musicians who make your event look and feel effortless.

The band were absolutely brilliant at our wedding reception at Oxford Town Hall. So many of our guests came up to say how much they loved the music. Super professional, but also just really lovely people. Couldn’t have asked for better. 👏

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

What our clients love most is the energy and joy we bring to every set — we’re genuinely having fun up there, and it shows. Everything flows smoothly, no awkward stops or hiccups, just one great tune into the next. We've gotten many compliments about our talented musicians and a great sounding mix.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Our band may be just starting out, but we’ve already had the chance to play at a variety of events — from local parties and community gigs to small venues and private functions. No event is too big or too small for us — whether it’s a room of 10 or a lively crowd, we have learnt to accommodate and adjust our performance and sound to your event.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We take a lot of inspiration from artists we genuinely love—Cory Wong, Vulfpeck, Dave Koz, and the legend Michael Brecker for their energy and feel, but also the classics like Brubeck, Sinatra, and Miles Davis. Their music is what got us excited to play together in the first place, and you can definitely hear it in how we play.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

We have multiple very talented instrumentalists on standby. If you would like to request a singer or specific instruments like keyboards or a horn section, we would be more than happy to accommodate this.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our full line-up includes Vocals, Guitars, Drums, and two Saxes. However, we do offer smaller line ups for jazz gigs, anything from two to five pieces.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are very flexible and accommodating. We would try our best to work out a schedule, just let us know!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. This is a really popular request, however, we will have to hire an external DJ for this, which will come at an additional cost.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually arrive 1 hour early and take 30 minutes to set up. This is usually based on the venue and we will request as much time as you can offer to ensure everything runs smoothly. As soon as our sound systems are set up we are ready to go!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set list is crafted through years of playing together and learning what goes down best in a live setting. Feel free to pick any specific tunes you would like us to play!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We’ll bring all our own musical equipment unless the venue provides amps and a drum kit. We do require access to power outlets, so please confirm this in advance. Lighting is not included in our quote.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes, we’re happy to learn song requests in advance of your event. Our standard package includes up to 3 custom song requests at no extra cost — just let us know your choices as early as possible so we have enough time to prepare and rehearse them properly.
