Lyn Fredrick has been on the stage on and off since she was 3 years old. Her mother obviously new she was talented and entered her in various competitions at Butlins etc as a young child. She started to learn clarinet at primary school and soon flew through her Associated Board of the Royal Schools of music exams reaching grade 8 at just 15! She studied stage, tap, ballet and ballroom dancing and was an excellent gymnast! From 14 onwards she played in The South Norfolk Youth Symphonic Wind Band and the Norfolk Youth Orchestra. She also played for local amateur dramatic societies in the pit orchestra. At 17 she joined the Army as a musician and became a member of the Women’s Royal Army Corps Staff Band. (WRAC Staff Band)This involved training at Kneller Hall the Military School of Music where she honed her woodwind skills. The WRAC Staff Band of course played for various military parades, but had an Orchestra, a Big Band, a Dixie band a Symphonic Wind Band and a Pop Group of which Lyn performed in all at private functions expanding her musical knowledge of different genres and performing to different audiences worldwide! She performed at the Canadian National Stadium with Vera Lynn, most seaside bandstands, Wembley Musical pageant, the Royal Tournament, the Lord Mayors procession and several private functions, including Friday Night is music night, Pebble Mill at One and Blue Peter. Just three weeks after leaving the army she became a Butlins Redcoat working at Minehead in Somerset and the Ocean Hotel in Brighton which involved working in shows and performing her own cabaret spot. She then moved to Scarborough and played in a Blues band with Mick Ronson, David Bowie’s first guitarist. Moving back to her home town of Colchester she became section leader in the Essex Concert band. Whilst gigging, she also used her qualifications to teach woodwind at various schools. She was part of a 5 girl Brass section called the Cream Horns who played with the Fabs and was Lead Alto with the Derek hunt Big Band. She played many sessions in studios for various bands In particular STMS Studios run by Pete Reynolds. She formed the successful 7 piece band known as Eyewitness. This became a duo and was performing professionally for over 12 years until finally she decided to pursue her teaching career and due to the workload became a solo act. She was responsible for the running of several saxophone and flute ensembles in and around the Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk schools network. She was fortunate enough to play with Candy Dulfer in the Cafe Meander in Amsterdam. She then formed the duo Serendipity to work Worldwide on various cruise ships. Not only performing with Serendipity, but often asked to perform with various cabaret artistes on Board. She is a highly respected musician across the globe, has strong vocals, plays sax, clarinet and flute and has a wonderful rapport with her audiences. In 2014 she went back to being a solo act to continue working as a solo act performing in bars around the ship and being flexible to jump in and cover for sickness whether it be an orchestra member or member of the entertainments team. She organised other musicians into various groups for fun evenings such as 60's 70's nights and the Rock Band. This is where she met her partner Ian Gillott a phenomenal guitarist and they formed Discovery duo and with their combined instruments and talent they can change from the rockiest of sets to a smooth acoustic jazzy sound. Ian is still at sea so Lyn continues to work as a solo act in the UK and was recently head hunted to be a TV judge on the new series on BBC1 Saturday nights, All Together Now with Rob Beckett and Gerry Horner from the Spice Girls. When Ian is home the duo is in demand so check your calendar now to book either Lyn Fredrick on her own or Discovery Duo. You won't be disappointed!

EVA CLARANCE ENTERPRISES 3 Wharf Mill Congleton Cheshire CW12 3GQ Lyn Fredrick has worked through my agency both as a duo and as a talented single artiste. Lyn plays several instruments such as alto and tenor saxes, clarinet, flute, guitar and piano and she also sings extremely well. Her repertoire is massive and very varied , making her suitable for most venues and entertaining at most occasions . Being a true professional, Lyn can be relied upon to be prompt for any booking and to have the experience to know what to play at any given time. Working with her has been a joy as the feedback from any venue is always positive and complimentary . I wish her many more happy musical experiences with my agency. Eva Clarance.
