About Iona

Brighton/London based pianist and graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Public liability insurance of £10 million

After years of following her parents’ band to ceilidhs and sleeping in the accordion case backstage, Iona inevitably fell in love with music, and the piano. Iona is a versatile pianist, with a huge repertoire of solo piano pop covers suitable for weddings and functions. She is most comfortable playing for ceilidhs but uses her training in jazz to bring a new sound to whatever she plays. Aged sixteen, Iona started her studies in trad music at the Junior Conservatoire (RCS) in Glasgow, working with James Ross and exploring the ever-changing world of Trad piano. Four years on, Iona is graduating with a Bmus First Class Honours in traditional music from the RCS and is keen to continue her musical journey in new ways after uni. After her continued studies in Jazz at RCS, Iona moved to Brighton to explore the music scenes in London and further afield.

Iona was so warm and professional in all of the conversations about our party and she kindly learned a few new songs at our request. Her music added so much to the evening and we would highly reccommend her for any event- we hope to have her back soon too!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The unique-ness of Scottish music on the piano- and my adaptability; I am keen to mould to whatever you would most like at your event and confident in my ability to meet your needs :)

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Exeter Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Lorient Festival, Celtic Connections Festival

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I completely understand that timings may shift unexpectedly when running an event, so if the event runs anywhere from 5mins to 60mins late, there is no extra charge (it can so easily happen!) Then there will be a charge based on how late the event runs. 60-90mins late- an additional 20% 90-120mins late - an additional 30% 120+ mins late - an additional 40%

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely! I will be happy to put on a playlist of your choosing before my set and during my short break.

How much time do you need to set up?

As it's just me and my piano, the set up will take less than 10mins. But I will always arrive a minimum of 45 minutes beforehand to make sure I can meet with you and to ensure I am ready to begin playing on time.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Yes, of course - I would love to! I will always bring my keyboard too, as I won't be able to check the condition of the piano beforehand, and the keyboard gives a little more flexibility around location.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes of course! My set list is just the things I know well, but you can also choose up to 2 songs for me to learn for your event if there is anything specific you would like to hear.

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Yes absolutely! I will bring my own keyboard, and amp.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes! Due to time contraints I have set the limit to 2 new pieces for each event- but I am flexible with this depending on the demands of the pieces- so do give me a call and I am sure we can work something out!
