Upbeat and sweet swing tunes of the 30's and 40s, with rich, soulful vocals and infectious rhythm guitar. Inspired by artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee and Django Reinhardt, Hopkins & Oliver render their own interpretations of early jazz standards with a spirit of mischief and romance. Having met jamming on the vibrant Bristol jazz scene, Elly and Stuart each brought extended musical educations from New Orleans and Paris into their work together. Driven by a desire to make beautiful music to uplift, entertain and move people they delight in playing at weddings, birthdays, drinks receptions, christenings and festivals and venues including the Bristol Beacon and the Royal Albert Hall. They regularly expand the band with double bass, drums and saxophone, making a timeless party band to dance to.

I cannot express how fantastic it was to have Hopkins & Oliver play at our wedding. The duo were extremely professional, and were just lovely people to chat to. I had so many guests come up to me to say how much they loved the music. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Hopkins and Oliver were perfect for our wedding garden party. They are wonderful musicians who worked with us to create the vibes we wanted for the afternoon and even did a rendition of a song my husband and I wanted to hear in a particular style, for sentimental reasons. great communication, really flexible, punctual and friendly. We got great feedback from guests and lots of people asked us where we found them. Thank you to you all, you helped make our day the best day ever.

Do you have different line-up options?

We regularly expand the band to include double bass, saxophone or trumpet and drums.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible and keep communications open right up to the date. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We are happy to bring an appropriate playlist to fill the gaps before and in our breaks - just ask us.

How much time do you need to set up?

As a duo we are a pretty speedy set-up. If booking a full band we would prefer to set up an hour or so before we play and do a short sound check.

Can you roam around while you perform?

As a duo we are quite flexible and open to this - get in touch to discuss!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We are happy to chat about songs that you might like to hear on the night.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We come with adequate sound equipment for a medium sized space. If you are planning to book us for a huge room we may need to bring additional equipment which may be chargeable.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes, with enough lead in we love doing this! There will be a small charge for this to cover rehearsal time.
