David began playing the piano at the age of 7 and then learned to play the accordion in the school Scottish Country Dance Band - The Forth Bridges Dance Band - when at school in South Queensferry (just outside Edinburgh, famous for its 3 bridges). In addition to playing for ceilidhs in both Scotland and England over the past 40 years, David also plays the bagpipes and the guitar and has performed for many Burns Suppers/Scottish events, with sing-along community singing at the heart of these functions. David also plays accordion in the Irish band Shenanigan and is comfortable playing popular songs when the opportunity arises to give variety to any function. On accordion or piano:) David also plays bagpipes for any occasion. Funerals and weddings tend to be the norm but any other occasion e.g. a marriage proposal on Brighton Beach playing 'Someone You Love' by Lewis Capaldi (yes was on the bagpipes!) can be accommodated. I try to work with church organists too when the opportunity arises and have managed to play Highland Cathedral a fair few times working with the organist as the bride comes down the aisle.

David piped for us at my father's funeral in August 2024. He was a total professional and lent a touch of class to the whole ceremony. David was very helpful with planning the arrangements, working very effectively with our funeral directors. He was kind and friendly with our family and all the attendees. Highly recommended!!

David was great, He did everything we requested. He was a pleasure to communicate with and most importantly of all, played beautifully on the day. If you’re looking for a piper for your special day he’s your man.

Hi I’m very pleased to write this review about David what an amazing Scottish man he played beautifully at my friends funeral, David piped my friends coffin in which was so emotional afterwards David added a couple of tunes for us all which was such a lovely touch! My friend would have loved it. I highly recommend David he knows what he is doing and set everything up which was one less thing for me to worry about. Big thanks David Fiona..

Morning David - hope journey back was ok last night . Wanted to say a massive thank you for yesterday I think you were just great and it really made the event and I’m very glad I booked you . You were both brill. Would you like me to add a rave review on your website ? You were very upbeat and accommodating and very easy to communicate with ( basically I’m very happy ! ) and you can add boney M to your repertoire! ( though you’ll probably never be asked for it again!) Adele, Sutton

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Not a problem!! I will adapt to what you want. Things happen on the day e.g. train delays to a memorial service this year, and it wasn't a problem.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Again not a problem. I have bass bins that come with the PA and give the sound excellent depth for any ipad playlists you may want to play. You choose what songs you want to dance to once I have finished or am having a break. It's there if you want it!

How much time do you need to set up?

15-20 mins if on my own. Is a fairly easy set up. Usually I know where I am playing beforehand and have contacted the venue to make sure everything is ok with unloading and access to the room etc

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Of course you can. And you can let me know of any requests you may have. I also provide songsheets for guests to sing from if they are not sure of the words! (if singing is part of the event:)

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes and can play acoustically moving around the room. The accordion is good for that as is the bagpipes!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes not a problem! If it's too difficult, I'll soon let you know! But not normally the case:)
