Hey, I'm Ethan — better known as DJ Laz. I'm a Melbourne-based open-format DJ and MC specialising in private events, from intimate backyard parties to large-scale celebrations with hundreds of guests. I got into DJing because I've always been obsessed with music and the energy of a crowd. There's nothing like reading a room and dropping the right song at the right moment — watching people light up and hit the dancefloor is what keeps me doing this. It's not just about playing music, it's about creating a moment. I specialise in 18th and 21st birthday parties, engagement parties, weddings, bridal showers, school formals, house parties, and corporate functions. Every event is different, and I treat it that way — I don't show up with a pre-set playlist. I work with my clients beforehand to understand their crowd, their vibe, and the moments that matter most to them, then I build the set around that. My setup is fully self-contained: premium JBL sound system, party and ambient lighting, and all the gear needed to make your event sound and look incredible. I arrive early, set up before guests arrive, and pack down quietly at the end — no fuss, no stress for you. As an MC-trained DJ, I can also host the night — making announcements, hyping the crowd, introducing key moments like cake cutting or speeches, and keeping the energy exactly where it needs to be throughout the event. This is something most DJs don't offer, and it makes a real difference to how the night flows. Music-wise, I'm genuinely open-format. Current chart hits, 2000s throwbacks, 80s and 90s classics, hip hop, R&B, dance — I read the room and adjust in real time. If the crowd wants to go harder, we go harder. If they want something more relaxed, I bring it back. The goal is always the same: keep people having the best night of their lives. I'm based in Bentleigh in Melbourne's south-east and travel across greater Melbourne and surrounds. I'm reliable, punctual, professional, and genuinely passionate about making your event unforgettable.
