About Bash Street Band

Bridging time-honoured tradition & lively ceilidh celebrations since '93!
Ceilidh band
Sheffield
Public liability insurance of £10 million

• About Us: The Bash Street Band is based in Sheffield, England. We specialize in playing traditional dance music, mostly of Celtic style, perfect for ceilidhs at weddings, parties, universities, schools, fundraisers, and various gatherings. • Band Members: Joyce Scaife: Our dance caller and MC. Sally Gay: Flute. Steve Brook: Guitar. Jon Scaife: Fiddle and cittern. On occasion, we're joined by our friends: Clive Opie (fiddle), Geof Trend (guitar), Charlie Smallwood (whistles), and Robin Garside (fiddle). • What We Do: Often, at our dances, there are a few experienced ceilidh dancers and many who are new to it. That's where Joyce, our caller, steps in. She guides everyone, ensuring no previous dancing experience is necessary! • Discography: The second Bash Street Band album, "Another Hard Day at the Office," is now available. Collectively, we've appeared on over a dozen albums and have played across England, the USA, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and even Singapore. Jon has collaborated with the New England band Gypsy Reel and also performs with the Derbyshire trio Rare Occasion and singers Judy Dunlop and Bob Bray. • Technical Specifications: We pride ourselves on our high-quality sound system, equipped with Bose speakers. Our sound is tailored to suit your preferences, whether soft or loud. For assurance, we are PAT-certified and PLI-insured. • Experience: Having played ceilidhs for over two decades, our music has echoed in various countries and is featured on several albums, including two of our own. Our dedication is evident, as we frequently get re-booked for events. • Sound System: We possess a top-tier sound system suitable for rooms accommodating up to 500 guests. Our acoustic instruments ensure an authentic folk sound, and we're flexible with our volume settings, ensuring the perfect ambience. • Testimonials: "I am planning another barn dance ... we would not consider using any other band." - Carole "Thank you so much for helping to make our wedding day so special." - Rob and Jane "You were all utterly superb! We were very impressed, bowled over by your skills as musicians, callers and people organisers - just excellent." - Charlotte

Many thanks David. We had a great time playing for you all. You may not have done ceilidh dancing before but there was plenty of energy and no little skill - great to see,

The band were a pleasure to work with, professional but friendly. They set up very efficiently and discretely considering their arrival time was mid-meal. Considering they had a tricky audience demographic of 65-90 year olds, they managed to get people up on the dance floor with gentle encouragement, for a fabulous end to a great event. Would book again for sure. Thank you!
