The Wigornia String Quartet

We first met The Wigornia String Quartet at the National Wedding Show in Birmingham's NEC. They offered us to select a piece from their repertoire and by chance, they had our bridal entry music available. After a superb rendition that bought tears to my then fiancée's eyes, we instantly booked them for our wedding. Sean was our point of contact, and did a fab job at understanding our wishes. Even when we had mistakenly booked an hour too short, it was very easy to add the extra time. Sean also carefully understood our requests, and made sure peices were arranged as we desired. The quartet were very easy going, and very friendly. A last minute change of location meant there was far less space than ideal available for the quartet, but they never complained. They even changed locations to our dining room to continue playing during the wedding breakfast; again without hesitation or complaint. The quartet played before, during, and after our wedding ceremony; right up to the speeches. We had opted for a mix of classical and contemporary music, with the occasional film or TV soundtrack in the mix; aiming to create a romantic atmosphere. This worked really nicely, and was delivered very well. I particularly remember one moment just before the ceremony, when after a few classical peices, the quartet played Jurassic Park, and from the front I watched a wave of recognition sweep through our guests, whom also loved the tribute. Having Wigornia play our wedding really added to the depth of the day, and worked wonders in dispelling the gloom of the storm overhead. They were absolutely fantastic, and I would absolutely recommend them; very very impressed.

We first came across the Wigornia at The Wedding Show at the NEC. At the time we never even considered a string quartet but after listening to them play at the show we decided it would be a lovely idea. Despite the very poor acoustics of the NEC hall and associated ambient noise they sounded great. On our wedding day they arrived early to set up and then started playing, wow! what a difference in the quality of sound due to the change in venue. A large number of our guests commented on the fantastic music the quartet played. Walking down the aisle to Pachelbel’s “Cannon in D” and back to Vivaldi’s “Spring” was more than a little emotional for not only us but also our guests. I would highly recommend The Wigornia String Quartet to anyone thinking of having a string quartet at their wedding.
