About Joe

Any style, any genre! Whether it's with vocals and guitar accompaniment or solo guitar, I ensure a professional and top quality performance.
Singing guitarist
Nottingham
Public liability insurance of £10 million

I began playing the guitar at the age of ten years old and began gigging at the age of thirteen. It was at this time that I developed and refined a strong technical foundation on the instrument. I even appeared on the television at age fourteen on Sky Arts’ ‘Guitar Star’ competition. Following this, I spent many years playing lead guitar in bands of a variety of genres/styles, supplemented by both lead and backing vocals. I eventually chose to commit to my passion by studying music at the University of Nottingham as a principal study guitarist. However, over the last few years I have further developed as an artist, performing in solo contexts more often with more emphasis on my vocal abilities. This has led to many exciting opportunities, including slots at festivals such as ‘Dot to Dot’ and ‘Beat the Streets’. As this would suggest, I am a budding songwriter and am always keen to play original material. I have also played a lot of contemporary Christian music in church settings, and am well suited to this style. I enjoy leading worship and playing electric guitar in church bands, having done so on numerous occasions. The variety of contexts I have played in over the years, has given me the flexibility to perform in any required style or genre. This includes solo instrumental acoustic guitar, solo acoustic guitar, vocals/ acoustic guitar accompaniment and vocals/electric guitar accompaniment. I am adept to playing any contemporary style of music, including jazz, rock, funk, country, folk, pop and blues. This means that I am happy to tailor my material to the requirements of a gig.

I am the owner of the Ark Bar, in Brantham, Essex. We are a small grass roots music venue. We have had the pleasure of having Joe Zuccala play as our headline act on a number of occasions. He has played for our charity events and he has stepped in to play for me in an emergency so I have had the privilege to play drums for and sing with Joe. He is probably the best guitarist that we have ever had play at the Ark and he is also one of the friendliest, most helpful, generous and genuine young men that I have had the pleasure of meeting over the last 5 years. I can't speak highly enough of Joe and his stunning talent and ability on the guitar and would recommend any organisation to book him in a heartbeat. Yours Faithfully, Ivor Thomas, Owner manager of The Ark Bar. ( Please see us on facebook for any clarification needed)

I was very fortunate to catch Joe's first solo performance at this highly popular Essex venue. One may have thought this would have been a quiet night, but this was not the case- there were over 80 here, all aware of Joe's ever-growing reputation as a first class guitarist in East Anglia. They were not to be disappointed, Joe played superbly, mixing splendid self- penned compositions and terrific original interpretations of other artists like Paul Simon. Joe's takes were handled with class, love and respect. Overall, a highly successful evening ; on a personal level I was struck with the genuine talent and humility of this 19 year old and how he held captive the entire audience for the whole evening. We await the return of this remarkable artist for a proposed return in August 2023. Joe Zuccala, solo gig, Sackett's Grove Club, West Clacton on Sea. 6th August 2021.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I'm always happy to be flexible. If timings change slightly before the event, just let me know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I am able to provide a free playlist service before my performance and in between sets. If you'd like this service via my PA after the final set, this will be charged. The pricing and practical specifics of this will be arranged prior to the event.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually arrive 1 to 1.5 hours before the start of my first set. As soon as my P.A system is set-up I am able to provide a free playlist service, providing an atmosphere to get guests ready for live music.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

I'm definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event. However, my set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure guests dance and have an amazing time.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, absolutely! All performance equipment is provided.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes, absolutely! Included in my pricing is a video-chat/phone call consultation, which will mean that we're able to talk through any unique choices for your event. Whilst there is a limit to the amount of songs I'm able to learn prior to an event, I'm always happy to have this discussion. I usually include three songs chosen by a client.
