Aran O’Grady’s string arrangement for the song Point the Gun by Eimear O’Neill and Joseph Ryder of the SubSounds Youth Music Collective works perfectly with the song’s dynamic and emotional structure. Aran reacted sympathetically to the lyrics and weaving vocal melodies, and to the melodic elements already present on guitar and piano, creating a wonderfully evocative bedrock to the song. When the singing is soft the strings subtly underscore the voices, and when the main chorus kicks in the strings soar with the voices. We were delighted with Aran’s work and fully intend working with him again for our album and EP releases in 2025. Martin Moran, Programme Manager, SubSounds.
