About Wee Cabin Ceilidh Band

We are a Scottish ceilidh trio with a lively electric-acoustic sound: ceilidh tunes & songs are lead by the electric mandolin/banjo & vocals
Ceilidh band
Glasgow
Public liability insurance of £10 million

We are a band of very experienced musicians working in the Glasgow area. We now work as a trio, Mandolin, guitar and percussion, plus vocals. Altogether we have performed separately in hundreds of professional gigs and met in early 2022 to set up this lively ceilidh band. We perform jigs, reels and hornpipes for the popular dances: Strip the Willow, Dashing White sergeant, Canadian barn dance, The Gay Gordons, Boston two-step, Circassian circle, and more. We'll help you through the dances if you're not sure of the steps. We're singers too: expect a selection of popular songs with a Scottish flavour, from artists such as Paulo Nuttini, Amy Macdonld, Primal Scream, The Proclaimers and more. When we put on a show we're really having a party, and it's one you will enjoy being part of. If you want a special song to request for your special occsssion, we'll be happy to learn it for you if you give us a bit of notice. We arrive fully equipped with good quality instruments and our own sound system and are happy to travel anywhere in the West of Scotland. So if you want a great ceilidh event where everyone can join in, give us a call and let's party. We can perform for two or three sets of around 45 minutes.

These guys were brilliant and suited us perfectly. The music was good everybody danced and the next day we were all still saying how good it had been. We were a small group of friends having a weekend away at a county house to celebrate a milestone birthday. There were mixed abilities when it came to Ceilidh dancing. It could so easily have been a disaster with some feeling too embarrassed to take part but Hugh and the guys were wonderful putting all at ease. If you are looking for traditional Ceilidh with everyone knowing exactly what they are doing maybe these are not the guys. If you want a right good party Scottish ceilidh then give these boys a try, you will not be disappointed.

Hugh and the band did an absolutely brilliant job. They made a great graduation event a fantastic one for the students and were well received. Very patient with a group that largely hadn't done a Ceilidh before. Excellent band and did a good mix of music, very much recommend

It was our pleasure. The audience were very enthusiastic. It helps the band if everyone is in a good mood and came to enjoy themselves.

A great wee ceilidh night at Jimmy's bar (downstairs at the Park Bar) A really lively, friendly band who took it in their stride when the dancers came up with their own versions of some dances! Excellent musicians. Jane, Glasgow.

Customer questions

Can you perform covers?

Yes, do know a lot of cover songs. As we are an acoustic band we usually select songs which fit our instruments but our song-list is made up of songs everyone knows and joins in with. We find it handy to include a few songs in between the ceilidh dances to give folk a rest.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes, we sometimes work as a duo: guitar and mandolin. We’re both singers, but for ceilidh dancing it’s better to have our percussionist too.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If you need to make any changes to the running order of your event, please just let us know. We’ll do our best to fit in with your requirements.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes we’re happy for you to plug in a playlist from a phone for the intervals, and play it through our sound system. We’re not DJs however.

How much time do you need to set up?

We like to have one hour to set up, but could get ready in about 40 minutes if time is tight.

Do you provide a caller?

Yes, we call the dances ourselves. We’ve had the opportunity several times lately to perform for parties from south of the border or overseas, so we’re used to explaining the dance steps if the audience is not familiar with ceilidh dancing.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes, if you have any requests for songs, please let us know, but don’t forget our acoustic lineup.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

Yes, we always travel with our own compact sound system; unless it’s a large venue with a specialist sound engineer. If your audience is large, say over 100 or so, we may need to add on the cost of hiring a bigger system.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Probably, as long as you don’t want Nessun Dorma.
