Violinist
Birmingham

Tomohiko was born in Tokyo, Japan and began having violin lessons at the age of four and since then, he has had many teachers, mainly in the UK as he moved around the country several times. He has recently completed his Bachelor's degree at Trinity Laban and is currently undertaking his Master's degree at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with Professor Wen Zhou Li. He is a keen chamber musician, and is currently the second violinist of The Nox Quartet and was previously the first violin in the Goldwing Quartet. He attended five years of Pro Corda music course where he gained key skills in chamber music from various professionals including Raphael Toades from the Allegri Quartet. He has also taken part in National Youth String Orchestra (formerly National Youth Strings Academy) for several years, where he has lead the second violin section, toured various countries in Europe and and had the opportunity to perform with Sir Neville Marriner. Tomohiko's repertoire ranges from music of Baroque period up to music of today making him a versatile artist, and though his main interest lies in classical music, he is also very keen on taking part and learning in experimental projects through Trinity Laban's COLAB (collaboration fortnight) which enabled him to participate in a project with some fantastic dancers from Laban school of Contemporary Dance. Aside from Music and the Violin, he also enjoys cooking, hiking and the great outdoors.
