I am a full time professional piper with over 40 years experience. I offer a professional, friendly and personal service and am priced to suit most budgets. I was taught initially by our local Pipe Major Henry McGuinness for about 5 years and then Iain MacLeod who was himself taught by Angus MacPherson and also PM Donald MacLeod. I also had occasional Piobaireachd tuition from Archie Kenneth. I love playing and to that end I went full time in August 2015. I play traditional or modern music and am happy to learn requests if they fit on the pipes. Given a bit of notice I can learn most things if they fit on the range of the pipes. I also play the flute and again have over 35 years experience playing mainly traditional Scottish and Irish music but also playing modern music and happy to learn requests.

Tam played for our wedding on Saturday and he was absolutely fantastic!! Our guests who travelled in from all over the world loved him and really enjoyed it, was such a nice touch to our wedding. Tam was professional, prompt and lovely to work and communicate with. We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a piper!

Thanks Tam for your renditions of my mum’s favourite songs at her funeral It was really brilliant on what was otherwise a very sad day for our family, thank you so very much as you made her last day with us so special, I have no doubt she would have been looking down and loved her send off.

Tam provided a first-rate performance at our wedding last month. He made the day feel that bit more authentically Scottish - something I wanted given our large number of English guests! He was both completely professional and completely approachable, piping amongst arriving guests outside the cathedral, piping us into the top table, and even performing the traditional piper's toast with a poem delivered in Gaelic, which was very stirring to listen to. I would thoroughly recommend Tam to anyone planning a Scottish wedding - it really is incomplete without a piper. Tam, thank you so much for helping to make our special day feel even more special. Piping for guests arrival from a minimum of 30 minutes before the ceremony. Piping Bridal Party down the aisle (Optional). Piping couple and bridal party back up the aisle. Piping outside as people come out for photographs after the ceremony for 10 - 15 minutes. Approximately 1.5 hours in total based on normal timings.

Full Afternoon Wedding3 hours

Play for guests arrival from a minimum of half an hour before your ceremony. Pipe bridal party down the aisle (optional), pipe couple and bridal partyy back up the aisle (optional). Pipe as couple and guests exit outside for photos after the ceremony. Pipe top table guests to top table for the meal. Pipe the couple to the top table for the meal. Approximately 3 hours in total but flexible if ceremony is earlier or meal runs a bit behind. Maximum of 30 minutes allowed beyond planned time for piping in to the top table.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients like that I play modern music as well as traditional and will go the extra mile to learn requests for them (if it fits on the range of the pipes as not everything does).

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Too many to mention. I have played at most of the popular wedding venues and some more obscure ones and have also played at many crematoriums and cemeteries.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Other pipers mainly but also some folk bands.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

All gigs are high profile to me as each individual client is as important as all the others. I have played at some high profile venues though.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

You can let me know of any timing changes. On most occasions it will not be an issue but if I am unable to accommodate the new times, I will ensure that a colleague is in place to be with you on the same terms.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I am sorry, this is not something I offer.

How much time do you need to set up?

5 minutes to get the pipes tuned up and I am ready to go. I always turn up in number 2 uniform ready to go.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

You can have your choice of music from anything you like whether traditional or modern. If it fits on the range of the pipes, I can generally do it and am happy to learn new pieces of music as long as I have at least a couple of weeks notice. I have played all things traditional as well as many modern tunes/songs

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes I do.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Absolutely. If it fits on the range of the pipes I will learn it given at least 4 weeks notice. I will share videos of the piece of music directly with you before the event to make sure you are happy with it as well.
