Stroma are a small family of musicians who love what they do! They pride themselves on being friendly and approachable and providing the highest quality ceilidhs and folk music. We are very excited to bring our London based band to Glasgow! We have had nothing but 5 star reviews in and around London and want to bring the same quality and fun to Glasgow! With musical backgrounds rooted in the folk world, highest training from music colleges across the UK and Europe and current experience as touring and performing musicians, Stroma brings all the essential requirements for a great event! Stroma have performed at a range of large venues, alongside a whole range of private and smaller venue events. It is estimated between 2018 and 2023 they have danced with and performed to over 12,000 people! They are able to provide our own sound systems and several additional options, such as playlist services, background folk music and more! Stroma love working with new people, and will take the upmost pride in making sure your event is the most fun and enjoyable it can be! Between them, the members of Stroma have performed at many of the UK’s biggest folk festivals as well as making appearances at the BBC Proms, London 2012 closing ceremonies, NaTrad Awards, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall and many other iconic venues. Bringing together this wealth of experience and multitude of influences, combined with a shared passion for folk and traditional music, Stroma are definitely ones to watch.

Superb musicians with an infectious sense of fun. Communication with was great. They arrived on time and breezed through the sound check. Calling throughout the dances was really clear. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this band, they were fabulous!

Gregor and his band are full of talent and really got our party started. The managed to get all 15 of us on the dancefloor ! Thank you for the wonderful music !

What do your clients love most about your performances?

We often get told we are very approachable and friendly and that we bring a very fresh and exciting take on traditional instruments and tunes! We just want every event to be a resounding success, so we really care about the fine details! We also enjoy what we do and it comes across in our performances!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have performed at a range of venues! The larger ones being: Blackheath Halls Islington Assembly Hall Cecil Sharp House, Camden ISH Venues, London Patchworks, Leyton We have also performed at countless lovely smaller wedding venues around the UK!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

A real range! Our music backgrounds are very varied! Everything from folk bands like Talisk and Ranagri to classical to pop and beyond!

Can you perform covers?

We can perform covers, however they would be instrumental covers and folk instruments can only perform certain things! For example, a folk cover of some Metallica may be tricky, but we are open to ideas!

Do you have different line-up options?

Our lineup options are as follows: 2 Piece - Guitar & Fiddle or Whistle 3 Piece - Guitar & Fiddle or Whistle, plus Caller (Ceilidhs) 4 Piece - Guitar, Bodhran/Percussion & Fiddle or Whistle, plus Caller 5 Piece - Guitar, Bodhran/Percussion, Fiddle & Whistle, plus Caller 6 Piece - Guitar, Bodhran/Percussion, Fiddle & Whistle, Bass plus Caller

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are very flexible! Just let us know! The sooner we know any timing changes, the more likely it is we can accommodate any requests!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely! Our iPod playlist service is free! DJ is around £400 for 2 hours!

How much time do you need to set up?

We can setup in 60 minutes, though any extra time is lovely! We can have a playlist up and running within 15 minutes!

Do you provide a caller?

Yes! Our lovely callers are friendly and clear and are always a hit with dancers! If you have a caller already, we're also happy to provide the musicians!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We play from countless folk tunes! If you have any favourite tunes, definitely let us know and we will be sure to play them!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

All equipment is included!

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a track is one we don't already know, we can certainly see if it is possible to learn it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. We would ask to charge a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times for the musicians to make sure it is truly perfect!
