About Steven Reid Williams Blues Band

A party band with a difference...made up of some of the UK's top session musicians...
Blues band
Stroud
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Hi! If you're after your standard mix of function tunes, played by shiny bands with no personality, then we're probably not the guys for you. If, however, you want to hear some great, classic, but possibly neglected, blues, soul and funk songs played by some guys who love music, and each other! ...well then look no further! We don't use any backing tracks and we pride ourselves on making our 3/4 piece sound a lot bigger! We are highly flexible and respond very favourably to requests and audience banter! The best part is, we can also mix as much or as little of the blues thing in with more mainstream songs (but not the standard picks!) as you like. So if you fancy half of the blues band stuff and then an entirely different set of more pop based material, we have you covered. We've been mates for many years now and this comes across in the fun way we make music and interact with our audiences. We hope to see you at a party soon! Steve ‘Blues, funk and soul come together in this rare collaboration of musicians from the South-West’s thriving music scene. As busy session musicians in their own right, this is an outfit for which the phrase, ‘once in a blue moon’ was invented! Needless to say, when these guys do eventually get together it’s always an awful lot of fun. Expect heartfelt, raw vocals and blistering solos over a rock solid bed of deep grooves. These guys play for fun, and they take their fun very seriously…’ Piano/Vocals - Steven Reid Williams Bass/Vocals - Richie Blake Guitar - Graham J Nicholls Drums - Steve Wilson 'As a piano player, guitarist and singer, the diversity of Steve’s musical output has been wide and varied. Over the years Steve has been drafted in to play keyboards for several artists including Jamelia, Leo Sayer, Mel C, Paul Young, Sophie Ellis-Bexter, Rebecca Ferguson, Corey Hart, The Overtones, Lulu, Tulisa, Nadine Coyle and many others. As well as being a recording artist and a regular on the session scene, Steve takes great pride in his role as the gentleman of the piano bars! You can often find him on a Saturday night surrounded by groups of enthusiastic partiers!'

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Musicianship, spontaneity and the onstage fun that usually translates to offstage fun too!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have been lucky to have been asked to play all over the place; from festivals like Maryport and Glastonbury to prestigious venues like The Ivy and Quaglinos. We also love to play dirty blues clubs...and that's where most of our videos come from!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

JD McPherson, Eric Clapton, BB King, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Little Richard, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Solomon Burke, Sam Cooke, Otis Spann

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

The wedding of a particularly well known tennis star!

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes. We can do anything from a 3 piece up to a 7 piece including brass. The three piece includes keyboards/vocals, bass and drums. The 4 piece adds a guitar. The 5 piece adds a second vocalist and from there on up we add brass players.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

No problem, we can be flexible within reason.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, no problem. We can provide an iPod style play back for free in between sets, or we can actually do a full DJ service, including the late night set for an extra fee.

How much time do you need to set up?

About an hour minimum. And we can have background music going pretty quickly to get the party started in the right way.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Using acoustic guitar and vocals, yes.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes, of course. Or you can leave it to us if you prefer.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes, all of it...plus the bells and whistles.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Of course. Again, within reason. The guys in the band are top session musicians so we can learn new songs usually very quickly.

Steve and his Band were absolutely amazing. Their playing was exceptional and most importantly for us they looked like they were having a blast which was so infectious. They got the everyone up dancing to some amazing blues which was just waht we were after. Steve was a great lead and a true professional, both on stage and with all the communication up front. I would highly recommend for any occation. Thank you Steve for making out day that little bit more special.

Morning Steve WOW, YOU BLEW OUR SOCKS OFF Thank you so much. Your performances were brilliant 👏👌(as usual). It was perfect from the moment we walked into the hotel and we heard you playing until the end of the evening when we were exhausted but exhilarated and full of your music, feet hurting from dancing all night. The band were EXCEPTIONAL, we loved every note, every second. What we are trying to say is A GREAT BIG THANK YOU. Sarah and Jonathan

My now husband and I were recommended to invite Steven along to perform with his band of legends at our wedding. It has to be said they were absolutely awesome and went down extremely well with our family and friends. So much so that two of my husband's brothers and a cousin had Steven to perform at their weddings aswell, we were more than happy to see them again but it didn't stop us inviting Steven down again for my husbands 30th!!! Our most memorable moment was when they smashed our request of Baker street, replacing the iconic sax solo with the electric guitar! Thanks you Steven for the incredible memories you will always be strongly recommend from us!!!
