Selena Farnsworth

Selena is a versatile Cellist and passionate music performer who regularly performs both acoustic and electric Cello. She has a varied performance background and enjoys performing a variety of many different musical genres including Rock, Pop, Classical, Folk, Electronic, Hip-hop, Jazz and many more. Selena started learning the cello age 6 and went on to continue her studies at the Junior Royal Northern College of music age 11 in 2006. Selena was also a member of the Halle Youth Orchestra and was involved in various projects including a 'side by side' project with the Halle Orchestra conducted by Sir Mark Elder. She has performed in prestigious venues with the Halle Youth Orchestra including the Bridgewater Hall, the London Royal Opera House, and the Manchester Opera House. Selena has also been a member of the CBSO youth orchestra while studying at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and has performed at Symphony Hall and Birmingham Town Hall. She also performed in a concert of Verdi’s Requiem while studying that was featured on BBC radio 3. Selena is northern based, however regularly travels all over the country and internationally for many different performances in different chamber ensembles, orchestras, shows and many other events. Her BA in music performance was achieved at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and since graduating; she has performed in many shows including in the prestigious tribute band ‘The ELO Show’ which celebrates the extensive music catalogue of The Electric Light Orchestra band and Jeff Lynne. With notable performances at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and DeMontfort Hall. Selena performed in an adaptation of the show ‘The Snow Queen’ at the Storyhouse in Chester. She has also performed in many Ibiza Classics shows with the Urban Soul Orchestra all around the country. Selena featured in a Netflix music video in the Queen Charlottes Global Orchestra with the major R&B/Soul singer-song writer Alicia Keys. The video celebrated the 20th year anniversary of the song ‘If I ain’t got you’ and featured an orchestra of 70 plus, women of colour. The Global orchestra re-recorded the song at BBC Maida Vale studios in London. She has also performed in recording sessions including with the Northern Film Orchestra and with the Northern Session Collective for the Manchester based Indie band ‘The Orielles’. Some other international engagements also include performing with her ensemble Sapphire string trio, which was originally formed to perform on the Cruise Ship ‘The Carnival Conquest’ for 6 months sailing out of Miami and around the Caribbean. She also toured Germany, Luxembourg, and Austria with the Folk/Rock band The Wishing Well for three months. She performed in a conductor festival in Danville, Kentucky USA in the Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra. Selena has also performed with Echo strings, String infusion, Bollywood strings, Luxury Live entertainment, Paradox Orchestra, The Infinity Orchestra and many more at events including weddings, concerts, and corporate engagements.
