About Scott

I’m a very competent piper, you won’t regret choosing me .
Bagpiper

Public liability insurance of £1 million

Scott Methven is an accomplished piper with a reputation around the world. After picking up the chanter for the first time at age 10, he quickly developed a passion for the instrument. At age 12 he joined his local pipe band 'Stirling Pipe Band' where he developed his skills and quickly mastered his technique, going on to win several prizes. Since then, Scott has competed with several notable pipe bands at the very top level including Shotts and Dykehead as well as Clan Gregor where he held the role of Pipe Sergeant. Scott joined the Army as a piper at a young age and earned the rank of Sergeant Major (WO1). His penultimate role with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders saw him leading the Regimental pipe band as Pipe Major. Scott's next job within the Army was to be the Pipe Major at the prestigious Army School of Army Piping and Highland Drumming. As Pipe Major he was responsible for the training of all pipers and drummers to intermediate standard in not only the British Army but the Commonwealth. Due to his success in the army, Scott was selected to be the official Sovereigns Piper, performing daily duties as The Royal Household Sergeant Major and thus a Military seconded employee of Her Majesty the Queen. Throughout his illustrious career, Scott has performed at many major events. As well as Royal engagements and state visits, Scott has been seen performing alongside many celebrities such as Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel. Scott has now retired from the army and spends most of his time with his two children. He also enjoys teaching at schools and online, as well as performing at various events.

Scott quite simply was the best. Hesitate a different league. The bride could hear the music from the room where she was getting ready and was so moved and thrilled at the surprise. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting an excellent piper.
