Customer questions
What do your clients love most about your performances?
They love the expressivity of my playing, and the wide range of eras my repertoire spans.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
The most notable venues are the Cathedrals of Ely, Rheims, and Canterbury, and Le Divan Du Monde in Paris, which is a beautiful 18th century theater. Oh, and the Palais Du Tau in Rheims.
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
I think Junior Walker. A great singer and great saxophonist. His improvisations are expressive, but also so easy to understand, even for those who don't know about music.
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
Either the inauguration of Rowan Williams
as Archbishop of Canterbury, of a concert attended by Sir Peter Maxwell-Davies. He's a composer, and a big deal in the classical music world.
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
I'm flexible - I have to be in this job! Timings often get tweaked near the time or on the day.
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
I can provide some background music between sets.
How much time do you need to set up?
10 minutes. However, I always aim to arrive well ahead of schedule just to be safe!
Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?
Yes of course! You can set my entire playlist, part of it, veto some songs, or leave it all up to me. If you provide a list that isn't quite the right length I will add/remove tracks to make the time.
Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?
I can provide my own amplification if I'm not working with your DJ.
For outdoor events I will need shelter from the weather. Expensive musical instruments and electrical equipment do not fare well in direct sunlight or rain.
Can you learn song requests before the event?
Yes. The first song is free. Additional songs are £50 each. Some songs are not suitable to have a saxophone added but I'll always try my best.
