Inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra and other great jazz singers, vocalist Sam Carelse together with guitarist Jason Henson are a popular jazz duo who recreate the atmosphere of the golden age of jazz for weddings, birthday parties, corporate events and other special occasions. Originally formed as a duo, the band is available up to any size to suit all budgets. In duo form, Sam and Jason create a relaxed atmosphere for dinner or mingling, and for dancing, the duo becomes a trio with a double bass, and a quartet with drums. Other line-ups are available to suit all moods, with piano, sax, trumpet and more. Their ability to bring the cool bossa nova sounds of the 1960's adds a touch of class to any drinks reception, or they can really get the party started with swinging classics from The Great American Songbook, or the high-energy sound of gypsy jazz. We hired Sam for our Mums 80th birthday lunch and we’re looking for a band that would appeal to both young and old alike. Sam was perfect, she and her band were very easy to deal with and made organising very straight forward. The band read the room perfectly and kept the music fairly low as guests arrived and ramped up after lunch for more of a fun, party feel. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to add a touch of class to their event.

We had a lovely afternoon with Sam. She had just the right music to make everyone feel relaxed at our happy occasion. We would definitely recommend her lovely voice and the fantastic guitarist who accompanied her. Not to mention her lovely smile. Thank you Sam you made all the difference.

My wife and I took a trip to Brighton to listen to Sam Carelse's band before asking them to play at our wedding. Lucky for us, they agreed. The band was absolutely perfect for the wedding venue with 90 guests. They created a very warm musical ambience which was enjoyed and appreciated by everyone. They are all skilled musicians who are at ease with each other, and Sam's voice is just something else, playfully controlled, delightfully interpretive of the wonderful numbers she chose to sing for us. Negotiating the gig with Sam was very straightforward, and Sam is a good communicator, and very friendly. They did a 6 hour car trip to get to us, which shows the level of commitment. I recommend them 100%.
