Roy is a drummer with Glasgow-born bands Ultras, Inspector Tapehead and dBass, regularly contributing to professional recordings, and performing in small venues and festival stages alike. His work with harp player Tristan Le Govic saw that band top the bill to some acclaim at L'Affaire est dans l'Sax in Saint Malo, Brittany in 2012. He later performed with The One Ensemble at the South Bank Centre in 2015 as part of their collaboration with Scottish Dance Theatre. In 2016, Roy concluded a series of three solo performances with Kick, an energetic improvisation based around bass drums, mechanisms and light. Roy is also an aspiring tabla player, having studied in India under Paban Bordoloi and Subrata Manna (Mitu).
