About Rob

Rob is a versatile performer based in the UK. He is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied with Quentin Hayes.
Singer (baritone)
Manchester

Rob has a wide repertoire spanning the classical, musical theatre and jazz genres. Born in Hertfordshire, Rob's interest in music began with taking up the piano and trumpet in primary school. He then attended St Columba's College, St Albans, where he joined the school choir, and his passion for singing began. He was later invited to join the chamber choir. Also a talented actor, outside of school Rob performed in a host of amateur dramatic productions. At age 12, Rob began having singing lessons and then sang the lead role in the school's production of 'Oliver!' Rob later attended St Albans School, where he continued to be an avid contributor to musical and dramatic productions. He was a member of the school's choir, chamber choir, barbershop ensemble, and often sang with the jazz orchestra. In his final year, Rob played Jean Valjean in their production of 'Les Miserables', was awarded the prestigious David Newell Cup, and was the receiver of the OA Masonic Prize for Drama Performance. While singing is his principal focus, Rob still involves himself with acting as much as he can. He is a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and is often involved with dramatic productions in Manchester. Rob has sung in the chorus for several of RNCM's productions, including Lehar's 'The Merry Widow', Weill's 'Street Scene', Mozart's 'Così fan tutte', and he played the role of Antoine in the RNCM's production of Offenbach's 'La Vie Parisienne'. With The Dorset Opera Festival, Rob has sung in productions of Donizetti's 'L'elisir d'amore', Verdi's 'Un ballo in maschera' (in which he also played the role of a Conspirator), Verdi's 'Macbeth' and Tchaikovsky's 'Eugene Onegin'. In July 2017, he will sing in the chorus for Dorset Opera's productions of Gounod's 'Faust'. Aside from his involvement in operatic productions at the RNCM, Rob was also a lead vocalist in the RNCM Big Band production 'Too Darn Hot' in June 2016.
