Customer questions
What do your clients love most about your performances?
Our clients love the way we inspire people to get on the dance floor and how hard we work to be sure everyone is included. We're also complimented every time on our musicianship and liveliness. Clients also appreciate our attention to detail in ensuring that our sets fit seamlessly into everything going on at events.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh, Glasgow Transport Museum, Tullibole Castle, Stonefield Castle, Edinburgh Folk Club, Tall Ship, Glasgow, Glasgow University Union, Askham Hall, Penrith, Bixter Hall, Shetland, Summerhall, Edinburgh, Dunskey House, Portpatrick, Edinburgh International Fiddle Festival, Arta, Glasgow, Venachar Lochside, Maryhill Burgh Hall, etc etc
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
Alasdair Fraser, Hanneke Cassel, Laura Risk, Bill Monroe, Bela Fleck, Vasen, Olaf Mjelva, Flook, Shooglenifty, Jeremy Kittel, Brittany Haas, Lunasa, Bruce Molsky, Kinnaris Quintet, Frigg, Garmarna, Fullsceilidh Spelemannslag, Sarah Jarosz, Crooked Still, Arty McGlynn, John Doyle, Dreamers' Circus, Solas, Liz Carroll, Breabach, Julie Fowlis, Talisk, The Duhks
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
Edinburgh Folk Club: not the largest venue or audience we've played, but it's a privilege to follow in the footsteps of those who've played there before.
Can you perform covers?
We don't do pop/rock covers, although we have a setlist that includes some traditional songs which we perform
Do you have different line-up options?
Our full line up is 3 fiddles, piano, guitar and a dedicated caller. This is adaptable to suit your budget.
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event, let us know and we will be able to work around your plans.
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
We can provide a jack for an iPod or device with your playlist. We also have our own playlist of tunes for before the ceilidh, during breaks and at the end. There's no extra charge to use your playlist, unless it requires us to stay for an extended period after our performance. We are happy to discuss these logistics in advance.
How much time do you need to set up?
We like to have an hour minimum to set up. We will try to arrange a time to do this during your event that poses as little disturbance for everyone as possible, and we will discuss this as we make arrangements with you.
Do you provide a caller?
We have an excellent and dedicated caller with a radio headset who can come out to the dance floor to help out and demonstrate. If you're confident that you don't need a caller, we can adjust our line-up for you.
Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?
We'll always have a discussion with you about what dances and dance sets you want to include, If you have a particular tune or set of tunes in mind, we can look into whether they are feasible for your event.
Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?
A complete PA with safety testing and insurance is included in your quote.
Can you learn song requests before the event?
We've learned specific songs for certain clients before, so if there's something you're keen to hear at your event, be sure to ask.
