About Pistol Pete Wearn & Olly Parry

A guitar and fiddle duo with flavours of the blues and Appalachia
Acoustic duo
Stafford
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Pistol Pete Wearn & Olly Parry bring together rustic pre-war blues with hokum, hoedown & mournful balladry. Their fingerpicked blues guitar & lightly-skipping fiddle take you from the frivolity & sound effects of the vaudeville stage via the dark Appalachian gothic to the roof-rattling barn dance, evoking the ghosts of old-time string bands and murderous outlaws. After Pete met the then 18-year-old Olly at a Stafford open mic night their collaboration began as two thirds of the team, along with singer-songwriter Helena Francesca, on the 2019 EP Pistol Pete Wearn & The Wildwood Flowers & they have reunited post-pandemic to release a full album of original songs Blues, Ballads & Barnstormers in May 2023. Since its release in May 2023 Blues, Ballads & Barnstormers has received airplay on BBC Radio 2, reached the top 40 of the IBBA Album chart and the RMR Contemporary Blues chart and been described in one review as “an album to listen to in the evening by the campfire, with your head in the stars and a drink in your hand...”.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Just drop us a line - we'll be more than happy to accommodate you if we possibly can.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We don't offer a DJ, but we will put on a playlist between sets. If you have a particular playlist in mind then just email us the Spotify link and we can make sure that is what you hear in our down time.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually allow 60-90 minutes before stage time to make sure we have time to trouble shoot any issues, but we can be flexible to your needs and either set up earlier in the day or turn around quicker when required, as long as there is space to have all our equipment unpacked and ready to go.

Can you roam around while you perform?

We can perform an unamplified set live in the room if you would like us to move around, or we can bring a small battery amp to set up quickly in multiple locations.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We usually bring a small PA suitable for a room of 50 or so people, or for use as background music in a larger space. If you think your event might need a larger sound then drop us a line and we can get some quotes from our trusted sound engineers. By request we can bring stage lighting at no extra charge, just let us know in advance.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Absolutely - we love learning new songs. You can send us 3 songs 3-4 weeks ahead of the event and we will do our absolute best to learn them for you.
