About Pippa

Pippa is a contemporary harpist based on the west coast of Scotland with over 10 years experience as a performer.
Harpist
Loch Lomond
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Internationally acclaimed harpist Pippa Reid-Foster is known for her innovative contemporary harp music, showcasing the varied tonal palettes of the harp and experience from playing at hundreds of gigs every year. Pippa will make your event really special, creating a unique atmosphere for your day. Since releasing her first solo album Driftwood Harp in 2016, Pippa’s focus has moved towards a more minimal compositional style incorporating electronic looping and effects whilst still retaining strong references to her Scottish roots. Her composition Murmurations was premiered in the Distil Showcase concerts giving her the opportunity to perform with renowned ensemble McFall’s Chamber. In 2014, Pippa graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and since then has performed at many festivals including the Edinburgh International Harp Festival and Glasgow’s Celtic Connections. Her ability to adapt comfortably to a wide range of musical disciplines has resulted in stage performance and studio work with a number of Scottish contemporary rock bands. Pippa has adjudicated at the The Royal National Mòd, and she teaches on various courses including the Edinburgh International Harp Festival each year. Pippa was nominated for Tutor of the Year at the MG Alba Scots Traditional Music Awards in 2017, a finalist in the Princess Margaret of the Isles Memorial Prize for Senior Clarsach (UK) June 2019. Most recently a quarter finalist in the Dutch World Harp competition 2022. Pippa is currently collaborating with Finnish Kantele player Eva Alkula. Writing and performing music in response to pressing issues we face with climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic. They will be touring around the UK and Finland during the summer of 2022. Alongside her performing and composing Pippa is also passionate about passing on her skills to a new generation of musicians and composers.

Absolutely delighted that we booked Pippa for our private event! Communication was excellent, we received a response quickly with a very reasonable quote. Once we had booked Pippa followed up with a call to personalise our experience, asking if we have any song requests, what the dress code would be and so on. We ended up having quite a stressful evening with covid cancellations but Pippa was one aspect we did not need to stress about! She arrived in plenty of time to set up and was so lovely and friendly. The music played was absolutely beautiful and all our guests made several comments to me how impressed they were. Thank you so much Pippa! We will not hesitate to rebook with you in future if we have an event and we will certainly recommend you to friends and family :)

Thank you so much for playing at our wedding on Saturday. It was absolutely magical our guests where still talking about the music service and views at breakfast the following morning. I could not have thought of any two other people to play at my wedding.

We were delighted to have Pippa play for us at the Vet School. The atmosphere created was exactly what was needed, being tranquil and uplifting. The impact on student wellbeing was clear, with many coming along to hear Pippa play and other who didn't expect to hear her, being fascinated. Everyone at the Vet School - and beyond in the University - has been talking about the impact of hearing Pippa and we'd love to have her back every Friday, if we could!
