About Peter

Solo violinist, specialising in the music of Niccolò Paganini, Henryk Wieniawski, Eugène Ysaÿe, plus many other lesser known greats.
Violinist
Leicester

The act was initially conceived as a Paganini tribute act. However, the enduring popularity of films like The Red Violin (1998) and The Devil's Violinist (2013) suggested that I put together a show based on the history of Paganini's legend. I was then able to trace a history of Paganini's influence from the late eighteenth century through to the twenty first century. Hence, I have put together a collection of music that brings together many of Paganini's influences (i.e. the repertoire that he would most likely have studied), Paganini's own portfolio of music (including, but not limited to the famous 24 Caprices) and the music of the players most directly influenced by Paganini (including Wieniawski and Ysaÿe). Peter is a graduate from De Montfort University. He was a member of the University orchestra, which included members of the Philharmonia. This gave him the opportunity to learn from some of the best musicians in the world. Since then, he has largely focused upon the Parisian School syllabus of the nineteenth century. Peter plays a Guarneri del Gesù model violin made by English luthier, Tim Phillips.
