I am a graduate of Edinburgh Napier's Popular Music degree (first-class honours), and have been playing live with folk, pop, rock and funk bands since I was 13 years old. My principle study at university was composition, so I have a firm understanding of arrangement and orchestrations techniques. In 2014, my first band, Sticks and Stones, signed to the Dumfries-based label 'Distilled Records' and released an album, 'Into the Wild'. The band's shows included festivals such as Electric Fields, YouthBeatz and Cumlongen Rocks, and other shows at Glasgow's Oran Mor. Also, various shows with Edinburgh Footlights' (including a five-star run of American Idiot at 2018's Fringe Festival), have given me an extensive understanding and inclination towards musical theatre work. Other past work includes being guitarist in a house band for a run of jam nights at Brewhemia, and teaching guitar to a range of ages in Edinburgh for two years.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Simply let me know with reasonable warning before the show so we can be sure the event can still go ahead. I try to be as flexible as possible!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Unfortunately this service is unavailable at the moment, but I am working towards including it in my service.

How much time do you need to set up?

The standard set-up time for my shows is 30-45 mins.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely! As long as you give me reasonable warning before the show so I can learn any songs not yet on my setlist.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I can bring all necessary instruments, an amp (if playing electric guitar), plus mics and mic stands. However, as I don't own a PA, this must be provided.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I take requests, though they will need to be negotiated at least two weeks prior to the event so I can be sure that it is possible (I want to avoid disappointment wherever possible!)
