Pete Major

Pete initially qualified as a telecom's engineer but left that industry, after almost 10 years, to work professionally as a musician in Europe and Scandinavia. He returned to the UK to study music at Cambridge, playing in various bands from popular dance to blues and jazz. Shortly after graduating he re-joined the Danish Management he had worked with earlier and returned to working in Europe and Skandinavia (even India) eventually forming his own band Major Works! After almost 20 years he returned to the UK and has worked professionally, building his solo repertoire, and working in groups and dance bands, since the mid 90s. Playing mostly in the jazz idiom, Pete runs his own Quintet which can also perform as a Trio or Quartet - he also owns a sizeable 'pad' of Big Band arrangements which comes out when the occasion arises. His extensive experience, in all popular genres on music, enables him to play most styles and, with the advent of iPad, he is able to carry a HUGE repertoire of music. This enables Pete to cater for most requests - as he says, "so long as it's 'piano friendly' I can usually busk it or sight read it" That usually means no rap!
