About Peneleapaí

Mindful, authentic, unpretentious ~ life moments to cherish. in Truth, freedom, love! Acoustic Originals Trad classical, folk, covers, pop
Co. Clare, Ireland

Twice qualified to the Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan (amhráin tradisiúnta), Peneleapaí has been interviewed by, and performed her own compositions on RTÉ RnG (Donegal), LCCR (Limerick City Community Radio), and Scariff Bay Community Radio, playing house concerts, holistic (and not so wholesome) festivals across Éiriú, UK, USA, Israel, and Europe. Her performances are heart-focused and a raw sharing of being human with the muses; her 'Earth Gigs' involve generations of local community, with heightened consciousness as the stage, and collective actions to affect social change through the empowerment of truth that is art's primary superpower. GoodMedicine have opened for the Spirit of Voice festival 2012, and were the closing act for the Killaloe Festival of Light 2012, (and every year since for the KFOL) playing an acoustic mix of everything from John Spillane to Alisson Krauss, with the aisey texture of local / world spirit and sound. They have opened for world-renowned Flamenco maestro Eduardo Niebla, and played support to Damien Dempsey. Peneleapaí has been likened to artists: Lisa Hannigan, Mairee Sioux, Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morrisette Rampaging on solo connection quest or embedded in her moveable feast GOOD MEDICINE, this artist plays a mix of Original conscious music, as well as Trad (that's Irish for FOLK), and other "covers" out of a kaleidoscope of sonic forces. Good Medicine perform the original compositions of irish-based artist activist Peneleapaí In the past few years (2017 - present), her works have taken a more sombre tone, reflecting her openly shared experiences with death and uninitiated transformation; Peneleapaí 's direction has brought her closer to a role of midwifing those dearly departed, having composed a number of relevant works in memoriam, as well as arrangements of such spiritual adepts as Rudolf Steiner, et al. She has always embraced being a spokesman with discretion for the ritual and ceremonies in life and in death; her presence and professional demeanour a mindful complement to all occasions. An expansive range of life experience from street performance and busking, from speaking for the Dead and holding ritual for the celestial, to curating earth-bound exhibitions; from performing for the pope, to being put on the homeless list; from travelling across Europe without finances, from garnering scholarships and having no fixed abode, to homebirthing four younger humans.. A high lonesome in the home of the heart, her original works are described as World Trad Roots; folk with an organic edge. Raw, unique, consciousness-raising.. A free spirit whose artistic soul speaks lucidly; weaving a tapestry of authentic, timeless, embodied expression. A potent force of Nature based in the enigma that is past & future Ireland.

You came and you conquered what a night of music love and fun at Bliss. You played some lovely songs to warm the Bliss hearts. Looking forward to another Gig a longer night of Peneleapaí somewhere soon again.

Clare N, 2024 years ago

A fresh raw collective of rhythm, tone and musical truths” The music of GoodMedicine is described as very simple but also difficult to define: “world roots, singer songwriter, flowers, soil, stone, air, bone, shame, home, youth, revolt, alone, sean-nós, traditional and original non-musical minded soul tunes”. Explaining how the acoustic group came about: “The band explores existing, subsisting, and living, trying to reflect the human condition back to the microcosm. Being Peneleapaí 's brainchild, there was more than music to be had.." This came out of collaborations with the HDCNY (dir. Safi Thomas) and with the Limerockers Cru (dir. Barry Burke), as well as with other friends and those in the world of movement/dance. "..the songs are being breathed to life.. including issues such as social exclusion/inclusion, ecological and moral standards / perceptions, life peculiarities and on a more grassroots level, emotional journeys we’ve made in love or in fear"
